I'm not sure if the questions I am about to ask will fit properly into this category in the forums, but here's goes nothing....

I have a bunch of music videos on my computer, that were converted to .avi format, and appear to be fine and in working condition.  My intentions were to make a DVD (or maybe even a CD) that would play in my DVD player where I could view the collection of music videos of my choosing.  In addition to this, I wanted to create a menu system where I could navigate through which videos I was interested in and such.

Okay, so now that I got that small tidbit of information out of the way, I can explain what happened.  After doing some brief research, I figured out that Nero Vision was capable of doing what I was looking for.  There is even a simple menu interface where you can control the look and the feel of it, along with other options as well.  It came to my attention that I could burn a VCD that could, "Play in most DVD players," and this sounded exactly what I wanted.

I am not sure if many of you are familiar with the process or not, but I'm guessing if I came here and was willing to ask...you know what I am referring to.  So in the burning stages, it transcodes all of the videos first, then it continues on with the burning process.  Everything seemed to be all right, but upon putting it into my DVD player to see if it would work, the dvd immediately started skipping.

I am unsure of how explain the way it looks but...just imagine a tape that needs the tracking fixed on it.  I put in another DVD after seeing this and it played it fine.  For some reason however, the screen is in a constant state of jumping and skipping repeatidly, and no amount of cleaning the disc seems to work.  I asked for advice from a friend of mine and he suggests that maybe it has something to do with a codec...but this process is really new to me, so I have no idea what I need to solve this problem.

Sorry this was so lengthy.  Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

PS: I forgot to add this:  Besides the picture skipping, the sound seems to work fine and it synches up perfectly.  Another thing I noticed though (by staring at each video long enough between the skipping) is that each video has no color, or very little...they always all look like they are in black and white.

For starters, VCD's are usually burnt on CD-R's not DVD's.
Next thing is, your DVD player may not be compatible with the VCD format.
Most DVD players cant play VCD's, someone gave you incorrect info.

Try the SVCD option, will be more compatible with DVD players due to both DVD & SVCD using the MPEG2 standard and also the quality is better than VCD.

If none of work then you're stuck to making a DVD out of all the files.
