Title: 23.976 fps moive... Post by: Benny on April 13, 2004, 12:04:41 PM Hello,
Got a question that i have been meaing to ask for agers  I live in the UK so the DVD standard is PAL which is 25fps :) (tell me if im wrong) I have a few moives that VirtualDub reporst as being 23.976 fps. So when i burn a DVD in PAL format its jerky. I was told to get round this make the DVD in NTSC and use the 3:2 pull down in TMPGEnc. Tried this and its alittle better but its still not smooth to watch  Any help would be great  The home DVD players i use are a Sony CD/DVD Player DVP NS305 and Hitachi DVD Player DVP335E. Just wondering if i need a hack or something for them to make it work ? Cheers Title: Re: 23.976 fps moive... Post by: afonic on April 13, 2004, 06:05:14 PM Burn the DVD in the NTSC format (23.976 is NTSC)!
Your DVD player should be able to play it, have a look at the manual first to be 100% sure. Title: Re: 23.976 fps moive... OK nice one, so theres no need to use the 3:2 pull down option in TMPGEnc ? Thanks Title: Re: 23.976 fps moive... Post by: afonic on April 14, 2004, 05:14:05 AM Yes, just select NTSC in the start and you need to do nothing else.
Title: Re: 23.976 fps moive... Post by: Benny on April 14, 2004, 05:39:23 AM Cheers.
Just about to encode it, theses are the settings i am going to use, (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stewart.carr1/Ben/Images/Normal/mpeg.JPG) Where it says encode mode it is set to \"3:2 pull down\" :?: On the advanved TAB \"3:2 pull down\" is not selected. Them settings look fine to start encoding :?: Cheers again :P Title: Re: 23.976 fps moive... Post by: Benny on April 26, 2004, 07:35:47 AM Anyone comment on the above settings ?
Also i have been told to try this to get from 23.97fps to 25fps, Quote 1. Extract audio to wav using Vdub 2. Change frame rate in Vdub to 25, select direct stream copy no audio and save the Avi. 3. Use something like besweet to convert audio from 23.976 to 25fps also change output to 2ch ac3 4. Convert your 25fps avi to mpeg 2 with which mpeg2 program that you use. 5. Author your dvd with your 25fps audio and video. Do u think that will work ? Cheers Title: Re: 23.976 fps moive... Post by: afonic on April 26, 2004, 08:27:48 AM This could work, but if your player plays NTSC why bother? Mine plays everything OK.
Title: Re: 23.976 fps moive... Post by: Benny on April 26, 2004, 09:21:29 AM My DVD player wont play NTSC, the picture is black and white when it does play :(
Do the settings a couple of posts back look like they would work in a NTSC player ? Cheers Title: Re: 23.976 fps moive... Post by: afonic on April 26, 2004, 10:39:30 AM You may want to check this out, maybe your TV or the connection with your TV is the problem. What does the manual say?+
Anyway you can try this thing, it may work OK. |
