Title: D.I.K.O. - Automatic DivX to DVD/SVCD conversion tool
Post by: vmesquita287 on May 20, 2004, 11:47:43 AM
Hi everyone,

I am posting to announce my tool DIKO. DIKO is a one click DivX/XVid to KDVD/KSVCD (DVD/SVCD using the Kvcd.net compression tecniques) conversion tool. It works with many other softwares to achieve the best quality and efficiency possible in this conversion.

Some Features:
Features:
-One Pass VBR Size prediction fully integrated, using CinemaCraft Encoder SP 2.66 or 2.67.
-Does automatically all bitrate calculus needed.
-Convert audio to 48000 automatically if needed.
-Do automatically framerate conversions from 23.976 to 25 fps and 25 fps to 23.976, including audio and subtitles. This feature also works with 5.1 audio.
-Automatically authoring with user-created menu via linux ported DVDAuthor or leave video audio and subs ready to be imported to DVDMaestro or Scenarist.
-Automatic DVD image creatin via MKISOFS and burning via DVDDecrypter if dvdauthor authoring is selected.
-Creates switchable subtitles from commom srt and sub files.
-Join subtitles for originally 2-CD DivX movies on the fly.
-Stops if Q Factor is too low (over 40), avoiding bad quality encodes.
-Automatically checks and fixes AC3 errors via AC3FIX
-Enables pulldown flag via Pulldown.exe automatically.
-After initial subs rendering, can fully work in background.
-Do AC3 encoding via SoftEncode.
-Crash Recovey

DIKO is available as freeware and there\'s a more advanced version called DIKO Gold for US$ 20. But the freeware version is fully functional and has all features described above.

Get it here:
http://kvcd.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=79
Required CCE SP 2.67 and SoftEncode (only to encode AC3 if needed)

Enjoy!

Nice one, thank you!

I will check this out, keep in mind that if you have any guide, I could post it in the site.

Great! As a matter of fact, I have this two guides..  :D Not related to DIKO, but to video conversion in general:

DivX/DVD to KDVD/KSVCD using CCE or tmpgenc
http://kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5142
This one took me a long time to improve, it covers nearly all problems that can happen in DivX to DVD/SVCD conversion. Actually DIKO does what is described there in a automated way. This one is available in german, english and portuguese in PDF format, fell free to download and add the PDF to your page if you prefer.

Creating a KVCD with DVD Menus and still extras:
http://kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5707
Also available in portuguese (but this time the translation was done by somebodyelse). And in PDF format.

There are many guides about that, have a look in the guides section and just change the settings for each movie to use half disc and then author.

The quality is not gonna be good though.

Please read the guides  here  (http://www.dvd-guides.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=3&Itemid=59). After you encode you need to author and they will work!

@  vmesquita287

sorry..its my first time using diko for conversion of avi to dvd ... everything went well ( I think?).  The conversion, authoring etc took place..but when decryptor started the burn process, i got the following error code from diko.....
\"cannot open file:  d:\\diko\\disc.iso
reason: the system cannot find the file specified\"

I copied the last part of the log ...it read ....

\"19:11:54: Creating image for burning using DVDDecrypter... Command-line:
19:11:54: \"dvddecrypter\\DVDDecrypter.exe\" /MODE ISOWRITE /SOURCE \"D:\\diko\\disc.iso\" /start /close
19:11:54:\"

It appears as if the \"disc.iso\" should have been created but wasn\'t?  Any suggestions as to what went wrong?
Any help would be appreciated!

I tried to convert my first movie today using D.I.K.O. 0.77   Picture is fine but sound is all screwed up.  Original files are AVI files (CD1 and CD2) with AC3 sound.  Is the problem because I don\'t have Soft Encode (AC3) within D.I.K.O. and how can I correct this?

Try encoding only the video and keep the AC3 audio as-is.

Have a look to this guide:

I get an error...

Avi Source: Could not decompress frame 0
(c:\\program files\\temp\\movie0.avs, line 30)

...after Start Conversion

If I OK the error box then the program starts, including beSweet in a DOD shell.

After only 7 minutes I get the message..

DIKO finished the conversion. IF everything went fine, your files should be in the working folder

There are some files in the working folder, including a log file ending the the line..

Quote
\"dvddecrypter\\DVDDecrypter.exe\" /MODE ISOWRITE /SOURCE \"G:\\diko\\temp\\disc.iso\" /start /close

I also notice that the configuration paths, grayed-out, are in Portuguese - these don\'t match my English setup
