Your qulity should be the same as a vcr tape. It is always easy to down grade the quality but extreamly hard to improve the quality unless you have the equitment like the pros.
2  DVD Rip / Hard Disk / Re:dvd shrink and dvd decrypter on: October 19, 2005, 09:16:34 PM
Ok.....I would first make sure you have all the updated software but most older ones will still work on most dvds.
Dvd decripter is a pg that ripps the file off of the dvd to you Hd. That process is now done.
You now need a pg that will shrink/convert and burn back to a dvd+r. Nero is a favorit of most people but not the easest unless your allready used to it. I suggest you try clonedvd to burn back to a blank dvd+r. It is very simple to use.

remember you still need to ripp the files to your hd using dvd decripter and or smartripper ect before using clonedvd. :side:

What pg are you using to burn it back to dvd???
I know that once i ripp using smartripper and or dvd decripter then burn back to dvd i use clone dvd which allows me to select subs should i want them.
Be sure you are ripping / backing up the entire dvd. Tongue
4  General / General Questions / Re:Encoding times to different HDDs on: October 19, 2005, 08:59:28 PM
Ok.....1st you do not need to install any software on both drives.
Most pg\'s will allow you to run it multable times but each and every time will slow the process down and or stop all togeather running. Know matter what drive you install the pg to (D. E. F. ect), it will always put a small piece of it to c: drive because that is where the OP sys is residing. Tongue

Try going directly from the vcr to the pc via cature card and leave out the dv / middle device. Cards start rather cheap. Depending on who old your vcr is you may have good connection types for speed. Most capture cards will come with conversion software and or you can use standalone software like TMPGEnc. Wink

You burned it completly wrong........ You burned the folders to your blank dvd/r.
If you r using nero you must select dvd video from the tempplate selection then drag your Video_ts folder over and replace the red one that;s there. If you using a different pg than nero you must select that you are making a dvd video and not an iso.

You may also want to consider the size of your vid card. Your resorces may be low while trying to encode your video. Or your burning your dvd/r to fast. I like to keep it at 4x.

I have had very bad experiances with stick labels. Over time they begain to lift aroung the edges thus effecting the spinning of the cd while in the rom. Also i could not even peel it completly off the cd making the cd look like shit.
Stick with the permenit marker Smiley
