For me personally I look for the DTS versions. I dont hear a difference on my own home theatre because its not the best quality but I want the best myself.
So if I have a choice between the two, I pick DTS. Sometimes that means sacrificing extras, which I dont mind since iM not a fan of extras usually.
Ultimately however, as long as the movie is DD 5.1 or DTS I dont really mind as they both sound excellent.
I am so spoiled that I refuse to watch movies that ARENT DD/DTS. (Same with pan and scan for me too.)
Call me stubborn, but if the movie is designed with amazing sound, I want to hear amazing sound.
Now if only movie DTS/DD was available on TV. The premium movie channels like HBO, Showtime, Starz do it to some degree, but not all movies are featured wiht the best sound.
And local channels offer it on the new ATSC signals. SO it is at least a good start for a bright and lovely sounding future.
BTW, I forgot to make mention of this... but wanted to make sure you knew...
the DVC 80 only supports 320x240 video capture at 25fps, which will not be the greatest when turned into a DVD. (DVDs are 720x480 at 29.97fps, NTSC television is 640x480 at 29.97fps)
So, unless you dont mind the really low resolution captures, you should be OK. Just remember that they will look grainy and pixelated on a TV/DVD player because the video is going to be doubled in size.
I am going to assume that you have USB ports free to plug the device into.
If your version of Nero includes Nero Vision Express, you should be able to capture and edit the video that that no problem.
However, from what I have read, the drivers for this device (DVC 80) do not work like normal video input drivers and only work with Pinnacle Systems own gadgets. (Read that on their product info)
So it\'s possible that yu might need to try several video capture tools to find one that works with it.
I do not know if it includes the studio software as well. I know when I needed to update my old Pinnacle video capture card\'s software, they had the whole thing online and I just had to enter a serial number to use it.
There are a few cheapo video capture/editing tools out there that are commercially available, but Nero Vision is by far the best (and cheapest if you consider it includes everything you need for audio, video, DVD making, cd burning etc).
Update us on what you do have and have tried (try Nero Vision?) and we will help you get going.
Yes, I would def check the firmware thing and possibly go backwardz. Sometimes a firmware update will kill your functionality... sometimes it helps add functionality.
Did you change the brand of media you used recently? Have you tried the old discs you know that work again on the same stand alone player that is pixelating and such?
