Here's where I'm at. I have a Roku HD1000 that pipes ripped dvd from my PC to my HDTV. Works great. Not perfect but pretty darn good. I started to rip some of my dvd's. I've never been a big dvd fan since I pay for all the premium channels and why spend more. But, over the years I have accumulated about 50 and wanted to rip them all to my PC so I can view them with the Roku. I've only been playing with this stuff for 2 weeks now. I have used DVD_Shrink, DVD_Decrypter, AnyDVD, and DVD43. So far I can rip most of the dvd's that I have. But, it looks to be only the older ones that rip fine. It's the new dvd's I haven't had any luck with. I have read up on the copy-right protection on the newer dvd's but see these software makers make it look like there products are bullet proof and works all the time. I don't see that. So what's the bottom line. Can all dvd be ripped?
I have had some good success using DVD Shrink. I have just been copying (re-authoring) to my harddrive so I can watch them via a Roku Player. Things have been working fine mostly. My problem is that it looks like all the newer DVDs (the ones under about 1 year old) won't read using DVD Shrink. I tried DVD Decrypter and that errors on me as well. I've been told to try DVD43 with DVD Shrink. Is this the thing to try? Thanks, jd
