16  DVD Copy / DVD Split / Join / Re: I have several short quality converted Youtube to Mpeg and want to compile onto on: September 03, 2008, 03:47:28 PM
Hi,

yes you can burn compilations of both, just add all the clips in ConvertXToDVD and it will convert them all plus create a nice DVD menu in order to select which one to play.

Mp3s can also be burned very easily, check some guides:

Hi,

to convert your video files your best choice is ConvertXToDVD:
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/158/59/

You can also check the whole "All to DVD" section to check other tools available:
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/category/3/72/59/

To burn the Mp3s into an audio CD, ay burning program is fine (Nero, CopyToDVD, InfraRecorder).
Here is the CopyToDVD guide:

Just plain text or some HTML, you can send me a zip with the images and the text at contact@dvd-guides.com and I will add it to the Linux section (giving full credit of course).

That is very interesting, even though I have a much smaller scale here (just 3 PCs) it is still something I would like to try.

I can add this how-to in the site as well if you are willing to share it.

You have probably made a mistake in the aspect ratio or the resolution.

Have a look at the guide:

The Xbox works much better with DVD+R discs.

Also try to burn in a much lower speed, like 4x.

Thats really weird, and it doesn't leave any clue about what goes wrong. Try some similar program like Handbrake and if it works email ump and he may be able to help.

Yeah it seems like it is suddently just closes, not a single error.

Does it happen with all DVDs? Have you tried multiple codecs? (XviD and H264 for example)

ump's email is working now so you should send all requests to the official Fairuse address (the one you paid to) as I cannot provide anyone with a download link anymore.

Any error messages when it shuts down? Look for fairuse.log as well.

28  General / General Questions / Re: Backing up DVDs to .mkv on: August 27, 2008, 01:59:58 PM
Hi,

a good option is Fairuse Wizard 2:
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/160/59/

You could also use Handbrake but it won't add the subs in the mkv file, instead it will "burn" them on the video permanently. You could fix that by ripping subs manually with SubRip (guide for that coming really soon) and then create the mkv file.

You have to manually set a cue point in the beggining of each track. Check this guide:

Do you want to "burn" the subtitles on the .avi video? (meaning you cannot turn them off)

It is very likely that your standalone DVD won't play the xvid avi files if they are not encoded with the proper options.
