1  Fairuse Unofficial Forums / Support / Re: Where can I find a manal for this program? on: March 17, 2006, 04:13:36 PM
Yeh I have asked for one as well and am sick of waiting for one, apparantly there is one in French but thats no good for me or many others.

Yes it is a easyish to use program, but I agree the settings could be explained, surely a manual is overdue?

3  DVD Rip / Other Codecs / Can we please have a English manual or a guide (especially for iPod) on: January 27, 2006, 09:26:22 PM
Ok, I have just used my download link to get v2.4. Iam a full version user

I still see there is no mnual, and all the guides I can find (1!!) for FUW are old.

Can someone please post a manual, or even a step by step guide on how to encode for iPod (screenshots would be great)

I dont understand what quantiser is, what should it be etc, I notice that you have to do the drop down and chosse iPod Video, found this by fluke.

Please help us Dopes (me) with encoding please, for iPod and everything else

ps so what is fixed/added/new in v2.4 release.

thanks
Andy

What movies were they rendez2k?

Have you tried them on TV out? ie watching on the Tv playing through the iPod? what are they like on your TV (what size? WS or normal 4:3?

ump can you explain what you mean by the varous sizes being based on quantiser? sorry am not a Video guru  Huh

For iPod is it a case of picking the iPod option on the first drop down menu and leave everything else as default? ie quantiser setting and aspect/size ratio?

cheers

Is DivX now not free? ie the v6? thats bad, isnt there a free codec though as per v5 had, I know you have to pay for their encoders but cant you now even get the codec free for use in our own encoding program ie FUW?

Just been on the DivX.com website, the DivX codec is still free it quotes

"The free DivX Play Bundle comes with the DivX Player™ and the DivX codec. You also receive a free 6-month trial of the DivX Pro™ codec with the DivX Play Bundle"

SO can you tell me what you mean when you say "To be fair though I reckon you should probably test using DivX version 6 (I know it isn't free but it is the latest technological development and kind of like for like with the lastest XviD build)"?

cheers

In your opinion then what do you think are the best? Obviously you can watch them both and get a better idea than screenshots?

I am no video expert, I like FUW as it is easy to use, and use ot for PPC and now iPod backups. Me looking at it they both look the same, maybe DivX a tadge better? but thats being a bit picky

Please can you tell me when a English manual is coming, it has said "coming soon" for ages.

I realise you have been busy with program updates and fixes (which I cant wait to try especially the iPod Video one) but I speak for a lot of people when I say that I think a manual is definately needed.

I think there is a french one? can this not be translated?

here's hoping

They are good question, I have a iPod video and want to try FUW now for it, I had a quick look and noticed bottom RHS there was a drop down box to change to iPod Video.

Then you have only to set quantiser setting, I dont know what this is? what should it be set to?

Also again, what is it encoed to H264 or MP4? and what bitrate

thanks, I hope to test it soon, please post any results people get on iPod video settings please
cheers

15  Various Formats To DVD / DivX / XviD To DVD / MPEG4 Direct Maker on: November 14, 2005, 02:08:52 PM
Was looking to convert some stuff and stumbled over this MPEG4 Direct maker (www.artech365.com). It not only converts Divx/Xvid to DVD but basically does everything from and to all formats.

I currently use Fairuse Wizard, which is good but is a bit limited, then found this "all in one". I was chatting to the supplier and he promises better interface and ease of use soon.

I have tried it and it works fine, It can be used to convert to PocketPC and PSP, and is very versatile with settings for all you advanced users.

Anyone else used it got any comments?
cheers
