1  DVD Author / DVD Author Tools / Re:problem with tmpgenc dvd author on: December 17, 2004, 11:13:33 AM
sometimes i need to re-author a couple of times...

first time, it could be the fourth file that doens\'t get completely authored...

second time around, it\'s the third file (for example..)

i dunno if it\'s a bug or not...

but i\'ve been using tmpgenc dvd author for a few months now and it only started to happen for the past few weeks...
2  DVD Author / DVD Author Tools / problem with tmpgenc dvd author on: December 12, 2004, 07:57:11 AM
sometimes when i am using the program...when it\'s authoring...it doesn\'t do it completely...

it does like half of a mpg file for no reason...and skip onto the next file to author...

so i always need to DOUBLE CHECK the vob files before burning....to make sure they are all fully authored...

when this situation happens, i redo the authoring and this time, the files are fine and problem is gone...

so the above problem happens just periodically....

so it\'s kinda frustrating to have to re-author everything over again at times...

anyone know why this happens?? is it a bug in the software?

there is NOTHING wrong with my mpg file(s) in case someone is wondering...
3  Guides / User Guides / The Ultimate RMVB->DVD guide on: October 16, 2004, 01:19:37 AM
Conversion Guide: RMVB->DVD (includes burning)

This method will fit 5 episodes on a dvdr with the best quality possible (the source is dvd-rmvb rip). This guide may seem like alot of work but it\'s not.
Once you get the hang of it, it\'s just a matter of a few clicks and alot of patience waiting...=)

Software needed:

1. EO Video
2. Tmpgenc Plus
3. Tmpgenc Dvd Author
4. Realplayer 10 (won\'t need to use this but needs to be installed)

Make sure you have ALOT of hard drive space & avoid too much multitasking (cpu intensive)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1: Ripping the Audio

a. Open up EO Video
b. Make sure the EO Extension Manager has \"rmvb\" under the Extensions column
if not, add it in yourself on the row \"Real Media\"
c. On the Explorer tab (shown on bottom left), choose the rmvb(s) files and drag them to the right side
d. Go to the Converter tab, click Profile button (on the left)
e. for the output format, choose \"WAV\"
f. change settings to below:

compression: pcm-no compression
sample rate: 48000Hz
channels: stereo
bits per sample: 16-bit

g, click the Output button, click browse, choose a location to store the WAV file(s)
h. click the convert button, then click the START button when you are ready

Each episode (45 mins) will take about 3-5 mins to rip the audio
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 2: Convert the Video

a. Open up Tmpgenc Plus
b. click file, then Project Wizard
c. Under \"DVD\", choose NTSC or PAL (i highly recommend NTSC)
d. click the drop down arrow and choose \"CBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio(MP2)\"
e. Click Next, click browse for the video file
f. Find your rmvb file that you want to convert (click the drop down arrow and choose to see all files, then you will see the rmvb files)
g. click browse for the audio file, and find the wav file you created in the above section that corresponds to the rmvb file
h. click Next 2 times.
i. change the \"% of disk capacity\" to 19.5%
make sure it says \"dvd-r 4.7GB(UDF)\" on the left side
j. click next and then click browse
k. choose where you want to store the newly created file
l. choose \"create another project for batch encoding\" and repeat steps c-k for the next rmvb file
m. convert it when you are all ready

each file will take 40-80 minutes (depends on your computer specs)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 3: Authoring the DVD

a. Open up Tmpgenc DVD Author
b. click on source setup
c. click the untitled track box and give your first episode a name (ie. Chapter 1)
d. click \"add file\" and find your MPG file that you created in Step 2
e. click \"add new track...\" and repeat steps c & d
when all 5 tracks have been added...
f. click \"create menu\"
g. you can choose the menu you desire...play around with it...it\'s quite easy
h. click \"output\" and choose where to store your dvd files (vob + others)
i. click \"begin output\", this will take 20 mins approximately
j. when it\'s done, a message box will appear, choose the open up dvd writing tool
k. pop in a dvdr disc into your burner and click \"write dvd\"

YOU\'RE ALL DONE!!! FINALLY!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some of the above steps seems like I\'m holding your hand to do this...i am assuming you know almost nothing about computers.
This guide is for novice-expert users.
This guide is to put 5 episodes (recommended) onto a dvdr. You can change the % in step 2 if you want to fit more or less onto the disc.
This guide will work for dual language as well, just that step 3 will take a lot longer for processing cuz the software needs to adjust the dual audio.

5  Various Formats To DVD / DivX / XviD To DVD / Re:Coverting rmvb with tmpgenc on: October 14, 2004, 02:10:31 PM
use eo video to convert the audio...

rmvb->wav

then when you use tmpgenc plus,

the video source is your rmvb file

and your audio source is the wav file you created from eo video

7  DVD Author / DVD Author Tools / Re: TMPGEnc DVD Author problem on: September 26, 2004, 08:10:22 PM
so when you put in the disc, it says no disc? or does it show lines going down constantly...

if it\'s the latter, it\'s cuz your disc is PAL format and your dvd player only reads ntsc for dvds...you will need to change your pal movie to ntsc movie

if it\'s the first reason, that just means either your dvd player is old generation...or it doesn\'t like that brand of dvdr media you are using
8  DVD Author / DVD Author Tools / menus for tmpgenc dvd author on: September 26, 2004, 08:06:25 PM
regarding the menu templates...tmpgenc dvd author only has 5 or 6 templates...in which a couple of them are just different colour....is there a way to get more variety of templates?

is there a way to adjust the menu border to be longer in length?
9  Various Formats To DVD / VCD / SVCD To DVD / Re: easy guide to convert mpg/dat(vcds) -> dvdr on: September 11, 2004, 10:49:26 PM
hmm....never seen that before...

what is the origin of your dat file? was your vcd created with nero originally? (any vcd created with easy cd creator is pure crap)

maybe your dat file is a non-standard vcd file?

does your .dat file play perfectly in all standalone dvd players AND in windows media player?
10  Various Formats To DVD / VCD / SVCD To DVD / Re: easy guide to convert mpg/dat(vcds) -> dvdr on: September 11, 2004, 12:52:11 PM
hi site admin,

what problems did you have? can you elaborate?

wrong audio/video spit/etc??

please explain....thanks

i\'ve done almost 10 discs with this method so far and yet to see any problems...if there is, please let me know so i can check it out...i\'ve played them on my standalone and checked each track very briefly...in other words, i haven\'t yet played the entire disc from start to finish...

your guide is great too...i\'ve done it many times with no problems (with a slight change; i ignore the merge & cut part)...the only issue is that i have to sit at the computer for each file during the besweet process....i have tried to join 10 files all together into one file...using merge and cut...and so on....have major playinig issues when i put it in the dvd player...issues like:

1. audio/video not matching (tough to match for one huge entire file)

2. major video glitches (probably cuz it\'s a huge file)

and other issues....

that is why i feel it\'s better to keep each mpg file as a separate track....rather than join them all together and make chapters...cuz it doesn\'t look good this way on the dvd player display...shows the time as 420:00...for example...since the entire disc is ONE track with many chapters
11  Various Formats To DVD / VCD / SVCD To DVD / Re: converting VCDs with multilanguages into DVD on: September 10, 2004, 11:44:45 AM
when you are authoring the files with tmpgenc dvd author, change the option button for \"stereo\" to \"bilingual\"

that will solve your problem...just keep in mind that it will take longer for your files to be converted to dvd files....(after you click \"begin output\")
12  Various Formats To DVD / VCD / SVCD To DVD / easy guide to convert mpg/dat(vcds) -> dvdr on: September 10, 2004, 11:40:04 AM
you only need ONE program...

Tmpgenc Dvd Author....that is it!!!  Cheesy

you can use the original guide by afonic...it works great but i changed to the method below cuz it\'s faster for me and don\'t need multiple software

here are the steps:

1. make sure your files are in .mpg format...rename .dat files to .mpg if necessary (or use vcdgear)

2. open up tmpgenc dvd author software

3. click on \"source setup\"

4. click on \"untitled track 1\" and give it a name if you wish

5. click \"add file\" and choose your .mpg file

6. keep the option button on default \"stereo\" unless your file is DUAL language...if so, click \"bilingual\"

MAKE SURE there is a checkmark in the \"re-encode the audio using the output format of the track

7. click on \"add track\" for your NEXT mpg file and repeat steps 4-6

keep on doing it until you are done...

8. click \"create menu\" if you want to put a menu screen for your dvd...you can fiddle around with menu style/font/settings...it\'s easy

9. click \"output\" and choose a location for your dvd files

10. click \"begin output\" when you are all ready...this will take awhile...cuz the program needs to re-encode the audio to 48khz for each track...how long it takes depends on your quantity of mpg files...a full capacity disc will probably approx. 90-120 mins (@1.3ghz & 512mb ram)

11. then you can open up the burning tools that come with the software and burn the disc

14  Various Formats To DVD / VCD / SVCD To DVD / problem with the vcd->dvd guide...please help! on: August 13, 2004, 03:37:36 PM
i followed the guide...

i have 10 vcd files on a dvdr...

when i play it on my standalone, it will only play the first 9

when i try to play the 10th file, it always goes straight back to the menu...

this happens more than once...
15  Various Formats To DVD / VCD / SVCD To DVD / Re: converting VCDs with multilanguages into DVD on: August 13, 2004, 03:33:55 PM
i have the exact same problem...the vcd files on the dvdr...can\'t change channels to just play one language...usually 1/L and 2/r...but that doesn\'t work for the dvdr...
