Hi! I\'m new to encoding DVDs to Divx format and I\'m using Dr. Divx (the newest version). Encoding proceeds as normal and to completion. But when I play the file, audio is only heard for the first few minutes. Then silence. Video continues to play normally. I have tried this on different VOB files. The same thing happens. Audio is only heard at the first few minutes.

I\'m actually trying to encode my Star Trek TNG Seasons DVDs. Each disc has 4 episodes (each approximately 45 minutes long). I have use DVD Decrytper to Rip the DVD to my harddisk. Then use Dr. Divx to encode the files to divx format. Also, as I\'m testing it out, I am only selecting one of the vob files and not all of them. Does that make a difference?

Please advise. I\'m really pleased with the encoding quality of the video but I just need to solve the audio problem. Thanks.

I think the problem is the IFO file for each maybe,  when putting them on the harddrive did you not also get a IFO file with them?  Try each Vob file with the IFO file as well.. or just do all vobs like you said see what happens, I\'ve also used this program and I like it alot but never had this problem with audio but I do all vob file and not just one.

What do you mean by try each VOB file with the IFO file as well. I know that when I rip it to my hardisk, the ifo files are ripped as well.

When I open the video files from Dr. Divx, I only see the .vob files. I don\'t see the ifo files. So I don\'t understand what you mean by using the IFO files as well. Sorry if I\'m slow on this.

Run all the vobs files at once and encode them all and then chop up the files where you like to with Virtual dub.  I was thinking of something else when replying sorry..

encode them all and let me know how it went..

Hi!Thanks for your advise. This is going to sound embrassing but on a hunch I installed the AC3 codec and now the audio is encoded throughout even though I select one .vob file at a time.

But I have another question: I notice that now when the encoded files are played on Windows media player or Realplayer, there is always some pixelation during the start of every video file I encode. The pixelation last for about a few seconds and then the video looks fine after that. I was wondering if it could be due to the fact that I crop the video size from 640x480 to 480x360 when I encode using Dr. Divx. The \"pixelation\" problem does not seem to crop up with Divx Player.

Thanks,

This could just be a playback problem, I don\'t think it has to do with encoding.

Try to change the decoder settings.

I tried to change the decoder\'s settings but to no avail. But acting on what you mentioned about the problem being due to the decoder\'s problem, I search around and found out that older version of the ffdshow codec is causing the problem. The solution is to download the latest copy of the codec. which is an alpha copy.

Thanks for all your help and advise. I started out as a newbie but as I go along I\'m learning more and more each day due to nice support people like you guys. Cheesy
