There\'s really just one thing I can\'t figure out how to do w/FairUse.  I\'ve got some DVD\'s with multiple \"scenes?\" that when I try to rip them with FairUse or DVDShrink and convert them with FairUse, it wants to create multiple AVI\'s.  I\'d rather ditch the quality a little and have them all in one 700M avi.

I tried ripping the DVD\'s using DVDShrink and DVD Decrypter and using VOBMerge to put them together, followed by using IFOEdit to create new IFO\'s, but then DVDShrink complained about them (I was going to convert them to an ISO for FairUse to read).

I\'ve tried XVid and DivX knowing that there were a couple more options for XVid, but still couldn\'t figure out a way to combine them.

Is there a way?

Thanks in advance for an aweseome product.

It doesn\'t seem as though there\'s a ton of effort on support here, but I just purchased the full version anyway.  I just get too much use out of FairUse and the price is just too right not to support it\'s developers.

Thanks for an excellent product.

It\'s like there are multiple movies on the DVD, and I\'d rather just put them all together into one .avi.

Think of like a kids DVD that might have 4 Barney episodes.  Each one might be like 20 minutes, so put together, they would still look good at 700M, and no adult has to be around to start playing each subsequent one.

Ok, the easiest thing to do is open the DVD(s) with Shrink, and in the Re-Author mode, drag the episodes from the right-to-the-left, in the order you want, with the sound you need, then Backup as an ISO that FUW can open.

This is easier to do than it is to describe, so give it a try. Shrink\'s Preview window will allow you to find & test your episodes, you can even trim them there if you want.

Give it a try!

p.s. this method works for multiple DVDs, that is, once you have the DVDs ripped to your hard disk (I use DVD Decrypter), you can open-and-copy episodes from any number of different DVDs using Shrink in the above method.

Excellent, I\'ll give it a shot and post back with the outcome.  Thanks for the suggestion.

It still cached the program chains separately within FairUse.  It doesn\'t seem to allow me to append them together.

Sorry--I should have thought of that problem. I did a search of \"merge titles\" and I think you can do it with IfoEdit (a little bit tricky) and apparently Nero Recode has a Merge Titles button but maybe you don\'t have that.

Surprised no one else here is helping!!??? This is a good question!

I think firstly you need to create your seperate files for each episode using FUW and your chosen codec.

Now download VirtualDUB get that here

Then read this link steps 1 - 5. I think it tells you how to do what you are trying to do.

Hope that helps I haven\'t had time to try it myself so if it doesn\'t work sorry for wasting your time.

I hadn\'t thought about using Virtualdub, but until the latest try, here\'s why.

Historically, if the DVD has 4 \"scenes\", I end up with 4x700M files.  Somehow, this last time I ended up with 4xNNNM files that totalled 700M.

From there I should be able to do a stream copy (no additional compression) within VirtualDub to get to one 700M file.

I\'m not sure exactly what I did differently though to get to multiple files that totalled 700M.

I think maybe in FUW, when you were at the \"Select Chain\" screen, you Shift-Clicked and selected multiple chains? It looks to me that if you do this you get multiple sessions and multiple AVIs that total the selected 700Mb? That\'s my guess.

I had thought too about joining the AVIs w/VirtualDub, but it seemed more intuitive to get the \"multiple titles into one title\" then run FUW on that. But now that I see that FUW processes multiple chains at once, maybe this is the easiest approach (join w/VD).

Yeah Smiley I think you may be right.

If time allows, I\'m going to see if I can nail down precisely when it produces 700M each files, and when it produces 700M total files.

1) select a size in the default options
2) on the chains screen select all the chains you want for a given size, and select the semi-auto caching mode

This will cache all the selected chains, and disspatch the desired size among the files, based on their duration.
