Well, I took a break from making home music videos of anime to burn some Love Hina Again DVD\'s. Now its back to the old grind. I have a problem with taking my chobits DVD and copying it to avi so that I can use it in windows movie maker. Any programs I could use? I used DVD Decrypter to copy the vob files (the main movie) and now I need to convert it somehow. Any format will work as long as windows movie maker can read it. Thx. Oh and I\'m want to avoid Divx and Xvid as much as possible so if you can mention some other codecs.

I was ready to suggest Fairuse to convert to XviD but you want to avoid it...

What do you want to use? (and why you want to avoid XviD?

Sry i\'ve been off the forums. I ahd all four of my wisdom teeth removed day before yesterday (I\'m 16 and they said nows the time to do it before they set into my jawbone). Anyways i\'ve been recuperating (man those hydrocodone pain pills can knock you out). Now I want to avoid Divx because that requires the divx codec. And that costs money I think. I downloaded the divx player and everytime I encode something with it, it says I\'m using the trial version. Thats why I wish my Love Hina stuff would finish. Its in more of that Divx ogm and I don\'t know how long the codec will work.

Hi,

use the XviD codec (it\'s the default on in Fairuse Wizard). It\'s 100% free (and open source) and offers the best quality/size ratio.

Personally I use it for my laptop backups and I am 100% happy with it.

PS. Yeah Hellsing was nice but it was not the anime I liked that much but the main character that was ultra-ultra-ultra-cool!  Wink

Ok I used Fairuse and the Xvid codec. But it only copied part of the disk. I put the Chobits disk in the drive and it read it. But it made 41 individual chapters on my hard drive. There are 46 chapters on the disk though (it copied 7 of the 9 episodes). Any idead on what I did wrong? It was a little confusing to set the program up. Are their any guides on copying disks with Fairuse? The program also showed I could use ISO\'s of DVDs. I tried to use DVD Decrypter to make an ISO but it just errored. RRRRRRRRR REPETITIVE ROAD BLOCKS

P.S. I agree totally. Allecard totally kicked netherworld butt.

Ok now I\'m somewhere. I used DVD Decrypter to copy my DVD. and TEMPGEnc to convert them to .mpg at last i\'m on my way!  B)  Wink  And even better its turning it from 1GB to 337MB. I can actually afford to leave it on my drive. Now every disk will be about 1.2-1.5GB instead of 8GB. SO SWEET!!!!  B)
