Newbie seeks help:
I need to edit (enhance sound tracks)of a home-made DVD and reburn to the same format.
Which are the best application(S) to use for this purpose?
extracting the audio...
enhancing the tracks...[Cooledit Pro?]
re-assembling...
burning [Nero]
Is there a program that will do all tasks?
Thanks guys...

Vobedit to demux audio and video from vobs , then besweet to convert , maybe ac3 5.1

Other stuff

Ifoedit for quick muxing , or muxman
The gimp for creating still menu images
Dvdauthorgui for creating basic dvd from video , audio , and still's
Pgcedit , the new powerfull editor , feature packed , dvd command editor
Batchdemux to demux mpegs and audio into seperate components for later editing / conversion
Blender , if you fancy yourself at creating menu's similar to those found in titles like terminator 3
Ac3filters , required by some programs
If nero engine installed , use imagetools to burn dvd , simpler
Dvddecryptor , dose what it says ...

Think it covers it all

Besweet is pretty easy provided rules are applied to .

Audio for dvd should be 48khz for dvd compatabilty
For conversion to ac3 5.1 , this option should be check first before conversion starts , or no 5.1 .

The problem with guides to nero burning for dvd is there are differences between versions , this is why imagetool makes it simpler for people .

Ifoedit can open video_ts.vob , even from dvd drive , and playback title , ac3filters required for audio playback , use this method to check for dvd menu errors prior too burning dvd's , if error , open using pgcedit (from hard drive files only) , and edit commands , retest , if happy , burn with image tools .

Forgot one more ... dvdshrink , use it for projects that need an adjustment to fit on dvd media ..

You get the works , and all for free .

When I try to convert my DVD to WMV format, or other PPC options, the program simply and quickly shows "Complete" for the conversion. But the output files are only in a few KB, apparently not playable. Why? i use imtoo dvd ripper platinum.

This document will show you how to convert DVD movies to Zune Video / Movie formats MP4, MP4 AVC and WMV. After these simple jobs, you can joyfully enjoy your DVD movies on the Zune Player.

1. First of all, please Download Xilisoft DVD to Zune Converter.

2. Then run Xilisoft DVD to Zune Converter. Load your DVD into the program: Please choose "Add DVD Folder" in the File menu or directly click the "DVD" button in the main interface, then select your DVD-ROM in the pop-up window and press the "OK" button.

3. You can convert your whole DVD by highlighting the title which contains the whole episodes of DVD, such as the title 01 in the following screenshot. Or if you like, you can select certain chapters to convert: Press "Show Chapters" button on the interface to find all the chapters in the file.

4. Highlight certain title or chapter you want to convert or just keep all chapters selected. Then set output format: Select the target output format in "Profile" combo-box on the interface. You can select different output formats for different files. And the result of setting will be shown on the list. After selecting Zune MPEG-4 Video (*.mp4) in "Profile" combo-box, you will get output format Zune MP4.

5. After selecting certain output format, the right column will show general standard of the format. By clicking certain setting(s), you may specify it. For example, you can modify Video Bit Rate. Or just keep all the selected profile default setting to get the best output quality.

6. Select the output folder: please click the "Browse..." button or directly enter a path in "Destination" box.

7. Finally, check the chapters or titles you want to convert, click “Start ripping” button, it will begin to convert what you choose.

Tip: It supports multithreading and batch conversion. You can select all files you want to convert and it will automatically encode them one by one, even if these files use different profiles and settings.

ha,I had a same problem in the past. please check the version of your Windows Media Player. If it is not V10.0, get it upgraded from www.microsoft.com. It is free.
Then, the everything will get right!
Good luck!

Well, Imtoo dvd creator is a good choice.
Now it update to V3.0, it add more features in its new vertion:

Video Trim - any parts of input video file can be selected and trimmed as you wish Added in V3.0

Menu Edit - support adding or editing the background picture and music (almost all types of music formats) at will

Video Miniature setting - you can set any segment of a title as the title's video miniature in menu

Computer's status after the whole DVD creating(video converting and DVD movie burning) is selectable - No matter how long the whole DVD creating takes, you can select the computer's status at the very beginning, such as "Shut Down", "No Action", "Standby", "Close Application" etc, the computer's status will be automatically changed to the chosen after the whole conversion.  (get more information here:http://www.imtoo.com/dvd-creator.html )

A major update, right?

Cry

I must admit I had stopped using ImToo and gone back to Nero.
ImToo  was seriously lacking features and seemed quite slow, But just used the new version its a huge improvement , far superior appearance, still very easy to use/navigate, seems to be improved speed of conversion, definatly uses far less dvd disc space than Nero so far I am very happy with
the new version and will move back to ImToo.

So I post these here, Hope the feedback helps and more people could get the useful software.
