hi,

im a newbie to all this stuff so if this has been asked countless times, im sorry but any help would be much appreciated.

1. ive heard when converting from NTSC to PAL (or vice-versa), that you lose some quality and it is best to avoide if possible, and you get better results when converting from NTSC to PAL, however there are 2 standards for NTSC, the 29.970 and 23.976, is it correct in saying that better quality is maintained when converting from a higher framerate to a lower one, ie. PAL 25.0

2. when i burn a video file to dvd originally encoded in 16:9 aspect ratio, if i play it (the dvd) on my computer the aspect ratio is shown correct at 16:9 (letterbox), but when i play it on my dvd player, it plays it at 4:3 (fullscreen), is this normal after creating a dvd, because when i play a dvd i have bought and its in 16:9, my dvd player automatically views it in a letterbox. Also is there a way to stop my dvd player changing it to 4:3?

thanks in advance.
