Well, I gave up on SimpleDiVX when I found AutoGKand after almost two weeks of no one answering my post, however I am having issues with that as well. When I try to encode a movie, wether from the DVD directly or after ripping it to my HD, it goes through it's motions, and then comes up with a VirtualDub error stating "FastWriteStream: Couldn't open D:\XVid\chain.avi": The process cannot access the file becasue it is being used by another process..

The file can't be in use (unless it is in use by something to do with AutoGK), didn't exist prior to the encode process, and is 0 (zero) bytes in size.

I've tried this on several movies; Chain Reaction and The Sixth Sense to name two.

Now, here's the strange part. Just for kicks, I decided to try to encode the DVD of my wedding, and it worked 100%. No hiccups or anything. The only thing I did differently than the past is I did not preview. That's it. So I tried a movie again, after closing AutoGK and clearing the temp directories and such, but same error. What gives? This is driving me nuts.

Here's a screenshot of the error and AutoGK:

Thanks

Hi,

try closing your Anti Virus if you have one open and it should work. (Especially if you use Norton).

No Dice... I disabled the AV (Symantec Antivirus Corporate) and it still did it...

I noticed that as it went through the first pass, the size of the file increased, then at the end (when I assume it was going to go to the second pass) the file size went to zero, and it came up with the "FIle in use" Error. This time, however, I got an error from AutoGK: Runtime Error 216 at 00402768.

The thing is why did it work fine for the DVD of my wedding, but I can't get it to work with any movies?

Hi,

please try replacing your VirtualDubMod.exe file (it should be in AutoGK's folder) with the one in this package:
