This is a guide that will show you how to use winavi to convert .avi or other formats files to DVD, then burn to disc, play them on your DVD player. Of course, there are similar steps for convert files to mpeg1/2, mpg, VCD, SVCD, KVCD, miniDVD, except the advanced option.
At the first, you may need to install the needed codec for the special file. I will use v7.6 which I think much stable and for more progresses. So there maybe some differences in different versions.

Then begin:
1. Start up WinAVI: (You can try trial version first here: http://www.winavi.com/avi-to-dvd.htm)

Click “DVD” button, or you can click "menu" button, then select "format convert" to find "Any to Mpeg/VCD/SVCD format" in the submenu.

2.Select file(s):WinAVI can convert many files toghter once time.So you can choose one or more files for conversion. You can use "Ctrl" or "Shift" for choose more files toghter.

3.After select files, you can get this page.

1)You can see the input files in the top of right. If you find the files are not listed in order, you can rearrange them as followings:
Firstly, please select a file, and then click the UP/Down Arrow on the left side of the list to move it, till get it in correct order. Just do the same with other files.

2)For source file:This is a differ from old version. If you select more than one file you can see this box.It has three cases:

A."Creat new DVD" : For this, you can get how many DVD folders as you select files for conversion. That means,if you select three files convert to DVD,you will get three DVD folders for each original file.Just like "DVD_01_1", "DVD_02_1", and "DVD_03_1".

B."Merge into one DVD": For this, you will get only one DVD folder which contain all input files, but in different titles. That means,in DVD folder-->VIDEO_TS,you can see: "Vts_01_1.VOB", "Vts_02_1.VOB" and "Vts_03_1.VOB" files.

C."Merge into one title": Also in one DVD folder and in the same title. You can see:
"Vts_01_1.VOB", "Vts_01_2.VOB"....

3)Reelect:If you want to change input files, you can click it to select files again.

4)Output directory:You can type the directory by yourself in the blank or use "Browse".

Now,you can click "OK" to start conversion. But also can go to "Advanced" option.

4. "Advanced" option:

1.DVD page:

1)Output seting:There are two modules for choosing:

A."Constant video quality":It's basing on the output video quality. If you want the best qualiy, you can select highest. If you want small file size, you can select medium or lower. That means, video quality is as increasing as file size.

You need pay attention to "Split output file".If you want to burn the file to disc, you must click this option, and set the size no more than 1013MB.Because without this, the output file may too large to burn.

B."Constant video size":This maybe a bit easy. You only need to figure out the range of the output file. Then select the disc capacity and number of disc.Usually use 4300MB for an .avi movie.

"Preference" is depend on which you like more, quality or speed.

2)DVD Chapter:If you like chapter with DVD,you can set it here. And you need know it's for second not for minute.

3)For others, you can set them if you like.In my opinion, the default setting is all right. But "Direct AC3" and "MP2 Audio" must select at least one of them.If not, maybe no sound in DVD.

2.You can click "OK",and also can go to Encoder page:

1)Picture clip and Adjust aspect ratio for picture:

If you want to edit video, you can use them.

2)Source aspect ratio:

This is just for source file,so have no relation to output DVD.Just for "AUTO" ok.

3)Source stream:This have audio stream and subtitle stream.

If source file has more than one stream, you can select which one you like here.

4)Flip Picture Upside Down:

Sometimes we have a picture that upside down, then you can use this to make it normal.

3.Then click "OK",start conversion.

You can preview output DVD, if you select first option. And you also can shut down pc after conversion finished.

4.At the end you can see this cue:

Now you have make a successful conversion.Congratulations! Smiley
