after a few test converts, to me at least, it seems slower. i encoded a 20 min. avi to DVD in v7.1 in about 40 minutes. same file and setting in v7.5 says it will take an hour an fifteen minutes.

i might have found a little bug. when i converted a file and set the 4:3 aspect ratio in the DVD options, and put both width and height to 96% in the Encode options. there is a green line in the lower left and right of the encoded video.

The speed problem puzzled me. v7.5 engine should be more faster than v7.1. I think maybe you choose the "quality" mode. In the "quality" mode, v7.5 engine is slower than v7.1, but it'll get a very good image quality. We've tested it, the video quality in v7.5 "quality" mode is almost same as TMPGEnc. That's a big improvement than v7.1.

And for the another problem we'll test it soon. I think it should be a "little" bug, thanks for your testing work, really.  :-)

yes, i had it set to "quality" mode. so i guess i should set it to "speed" quality to get the same speeed as 7.1?

This new version is quite a bit slower that's for sure...before i even updated i tested a 41min file convert in version 7.1 with the normal settings i use all the time.

Well in 7.1 i can convert a 41min Xvid Video going between 95-105FPS which let's me get it done in about 10 Mins time, now with 7.5 the same exact file goes at 45-53FPS and takes over 20mins long no matter if i pick quality or speed for the setting i get same exactly quality/filesize/convert time to go to a mpeg file.

I think something kinda got messed up in this version, they say 20% faster or whatever but it's 50% slower on all my converts no matter if it's to mpeg format or straight to DvD.

I ran some comparing tests(avi to dvd ) between 7.0 and 7.5 version with the same video and the same settings and 7.5 encodes about 10% faster(I haven't ever used the 7.1.)

For example with :
Intel Pentium 3,0GH ,
1G RAM
Video source :Avi
Conversion : to DVD
Quality : Highest

I got :
Total conversion time =13 minutes Smiley ( with version 7.0 = 15 minutes)

So version 7.5 is the best so far for me.I don't know why on your machines runs slower. Huh

Yes, if you choose "speed" mode, I think you can get 10%+ faster than v7.1. And IMO, the picture quality of "speed" mode in v7.5 is good enough, I recommend you use the "speed" mode.

Does your computer have a AMD64 CPU? We've found a strange problem about AMD64 CPU, we'll release a hotfix for it soon.

Nope no AMD 64..I use a 2500XP@32--+ with 1 gig of ram and a 7200RPM 8mb cache WD hard drive.

Well now after messing with it some more i decided to try a differen't file that i did the other night and it was over 40mins long and it's corrrect on this one for about 10 mins time at 100FPS lmao.

I don't get how the two versions thoe treat my other file completely differen't,with 7.1 the output file was done at about 100FPS with about 10mins time or so for a 40min video which came out to about 299megs but now the same file in the new version with same settings becomes 650megs.

Thanks Darkjeste for your testing work. Well I think maybe version 7.1 and v7.5 use the different decode-filter when you convert the first file (We say that is "codec problem"). Please tell me the codec information about the first file in v7.1 and v7.5 (Run WinAVI, and click "Menu" button, select "See clip information" item, then see what video-decode codec is using)

I think there will be no problem about AVI(xvid/divx) in next version of WinAVI. Next version will bulit-in the AVI decoder in WinAVI, so there will be no "codec problem" again.

And for the different output size, I think you choose the "quality" mode, in version 7.5 we re-write the whole MPEG encoder, for improving quality we do a lot of optimization-works include using quality scale "1" (In v7.1 the highest quality scale is "2"), that will increase the output size but the video quality will be more great. you can compare the picture quality between v7.1 and v7.5 by using VirtualDubMod, the different is very obvious. Our testing result is under same bitrate, the picture quality is almost same as TMPGEnc, better than MainCencept and VSO DivxToDVD(it is just a FFMPEG's shell).

Hi!

I tried 7.5 in the past few days, but I have not recognized longer converting time (AVItoDVD quality mode). But there is a very strange thing: with v7.1 or v6.3 a 1CD xvid movie become around 3.5G DVD format. But in this new v7.5 it becomes just around 1.6G and the quality is very good. So the size of the converted DVD format is much more less than before. Is it normally? Of course I am glad, but very strange...  Huh

Hi everyone,
As for the converting speed issue, you may delete the "AviSplitter.ax" file in \\WinAVIVideoConverter\Filter folder to have a try.
