This guide shows how to rip DVD to iPod, PSP, MP4, AVI, MPEG, MP3, WMA, AAC, etc. using ImTOO DVD Ripper Platinum. It is an all-in-one DVD ripping software which can rip DVD to all popular video and audio files, including DivX, XviD, WMV, ASF, MOV, RM, iPod, PSP, MP4, AVI, MPEG, MP3, WMA, AAC, M4A etc for many portable video players directly such as iPod, PSP, MP3 player, MP4 player, Mobiles phones, Archos AV500, Archos AV700, iRiver PMP-100, Creative Zen etc.

1. Download ImTOO DVD Ripper Platinum and run it on your computer.

2. Load your DVD movie from targeted drive by clicking on the 'Add DVD Folder...' option of the 'File' menu or the 'DVD' button of the main interface.

All files from DVD disc are uploaded as the following picture:

Tips:
 a. The button allows us to edit listed titles/chapters like renaming, removing, checking, etc, which is the same as the 'Edit' menu.
b. By clicking on the button, let the software show or hide Chapters.
c. The Red button is to start ripping.
d. The button provides us with more ripping choice like ripping selected, ripping ALL checked, etc.
3. Now we may select the output format from the 'Profile:' drop list box. The DVD Ripper Platinum is the most powerful DVD Ripping tool I had ever seen. It can rip DVD to all popular video and audio formats, such as DVD to AVI, DVD to MPEG, DVD to DivX, DVD to 3GP, DVD to MP4, DVD to WMV, DVD to iPod, DVD to PSP, DVD to MP3, DVD to WMA.
To show its strong functionality, here I select different output format for each chapter such as MP3, iPod video, PSP video, AAC, MPEG, MOV, Mobile video/audio, etc.

4. (Optional) The settings of output format are adjustable, which may be found on the right string. Ripping clip, video size, Bit Rate, Frame Rate, and Sample Rate may be all set according to special needs.

Tip: There is an information window in the middle of the string, further explaining specified term.

5. In 'Zoom' section, there are four options. 'Letterbox', 'medium', and 'pan scan' will convert 16:9 format to 4:3 format. The Full option does not correct the aspect ratio. If you have a 4:3 DVD, use the Full option.
6. In the 'Split' drop list box, we may select the size of the volumes that we would like to generate.
Tips:
a. 'Infinite' refers to generate one file.
b. 'Custom Size' and 'Custom time' allow you to enter the specified size by clicking on the 'Configure' button.

7. Click on the 'Browse' button to select the output folder or directly enter the output folder.
ALL settings have been completed, clicking on the Red start ripping button to start ripping.
Tips:
a. The 'Open' button may browse generated files directly.
b. Clicking on the button may save certain profile as your favorite name. Now I enter iPod as my favorite name for mp4 which has been listed on 'Profile' drop list box.

c. In the 'Preferences' window of the Settings menu, there are many settings to be adjustable.

* Save your DVD drive:
Create a temporary buffer to avoid having the DVD drive being switched on/off too frequently. If you use a RAM buffer you can also disable virtual memory to obtain an even faster ripping speed. The file will be written in your Windows temporary directory (TMP environment variable).

* Luminance filters:
Adjusts the brightness level.
The Y plane is the luminance plane (in YUV format). Applies the formula: Gain*Y + Offset on the Y plane. Gain is an 8.8 fixed point value. (0 = 0.0 ; 128 = 1.0 ; 256 = 2.0 ). Therefore, (using an offset value of 0) a luminance filter value of 128 does not change the brightness level; whereas a value of 256 will double the brightness level. A value less than 128 darkens the movie.

* Volume:
Gain of the audio output.
No normalization is performed; so, if the value is set too high, clipping of the audio signal may occur. A value of 1 can not generate distortion (crackling), but the output sound may be very low. The default value produces a good volume for most DVDs. You can make a few clips of the movie where you know the volume is high, and adjust this value in order to get a satisfactory volume.

Set 'iPod 30G' or 'iPod 60G' as output format: Before ripping DVD to iPod MP4 video format, please make sure the 'Profile' is 'iPod(30G)' or 'iPod(60G).
Playback the iPod video files: After converting video files to MP4, find the .mp4 file and drag it into your iTunes library, or select 'Add File to Library' from the 'File' menu and select the encoded movies. You can watch it with iTunes (Free) or Quicktime Player (Free) on your PC.
Sync to iPod: Click 'File -> Update iPod'.

How to transfer PSP video to your PSP
In the 'Tools' menu of the software itself, select 'PSP Video Manager' to upload generated PSP video files to your PSP with ease.
