Hi, this is my first post here, but I am hoping someone here can give me some insight on a curious behavior I am having with a couple custom DVD's I made.
I have created 3 custom DVD's from 3 videos I had on my computer in AVI format. I used a program called Nero Vision 4 to author the DVD, using the guide at
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/125/59/ and all seemed to go smoothly. I made sure to burn at a slow speed (4x), as burning too fast can cause problems. The guide also recommended using a high priority and leave the PC alone, which is what I did (also made sure no other programs were running via the task manager in Windows - except those that absolutely need to for the OS to run properly). However, 2 of these 3 DVD's seem to skip in my standard DVD player at certain places. The video plays great, but during some places the video will pause for a few seconds or so while the audio still plays without a hitch.
At first, I thought this was due to cheap DVD media, as I used Maxell's $2 3 pack DVD+R discs. I would've used DVD-R discs, but from the info I saw from videohelp.com on what kind of media my DVD player will play, only DVD+R discs were tested. Anyway, I checked these out with Windows Media Player 10, but here's the thing I don't understand. One of them does "skip" at the same places as it did on the standard DVD player, but the other DVD doesn't skip at all, period. I also checked the orginal AVI files, but there were no skips whatsoever in those files I burned.
Is this just a random glitch or what?
Here's some info:
DVD Player:
Koss KD250 (BTW, commercial DVD's play fine, so I don't think the player is the problem)
Computer:
Windows XP Pro SP 2 & latest updates
AMD Athlon 64 3800+
1 GB RAM
NEC ND-3520A DVD+/-R DL drive
Software Used: Nero Vision 4.0.5.24
Media Used: Maxell Color DVD+R (Package states they burn up to 16x, but I burned them at 4X)
