I just downloaded the registered version of Fair-Use Wizard, and when I try to run it, AVG tells me there's a virus.  If I say ignore, Windows says that it can't run the file.  Any ideas?

I've had fairuse installed for a week.  The latest update to AVG antivirus now identifies three files from FairUseWizard as being infected with Trojan Horse Generic2.dmv.  It identifies the FU2 setup file, FU2 LE setup file and the FairUseWizardUpdate.exe in the FU2 program directory.  AVG was set to automatically heal files (and heal means delete if it can't heal) so it deleted them.  I got the FU2 setup file from the link provided by FU after registering.  I got the FU2 LE file from the FU website.  FairUseWizardUpdate.exe was a file that FU2 installed in it's program directory during setup.

I just had the same problem. It must be part of a left wing conspiracy to keep us from copying our DVD’s. I wonder if any other anti-virus programs have been inducted in to this vast left wing conspiracy.

LOL!

I realy like my AVG but it just may have to go!!!!

I have used fair use since version .47 I have never had a problem. For some reason AVG identifies the setup file as a virus. I knew it was not so I opened the AVG control center and under AVG Resident Shield (DBL click the box) I simply unchecked turn on AVG Resident Sheild protection, then clicked apply. Then I redownloaded the Fairuse install file, run it then after the install was complete I TURNED BACK ON AVG RESDIDENT SHEILD!!!

AVG almost immeadately found the install file and brought up the warning again but I had allread installed Fairuse. So I let it delete the file and then ran a full system scan. AVG did not find any virus and Fairuse is installed and works properly!! Grin Grin Grin Grin

YEAH!!!! Wink Grin

Otherwise you will come home to a computer with no FairUse file on it.  I emailed FairUse.  Hopefully he can work with AVG to get this resolved.

Well after I install Fair Use as I described above. I ran a full system can using AVG and it did not find anything. I have been running FU on this computer since my last post, no problems yet. If I do run into problems I will post them and dump AVG for the other free anti virus program.

Since installing FU as I decribed I have had no further problems with AVG and FU having a conflict. I have never lost movies or and FU project files. In addition AVG is set up to do a full system scan on my computer every week and has been 100% clean.
