I'm using the full version of FU2.5 with the "iPod Video" conversion settings. For most of my DVDs it works great, but I've found a couple on which it successfully processes the video, processes the audio but then, instead of creating the final output file says "muxing operation failed". Does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it, please?

Thanks,

Harry.

I have encountered the same error whenever I do an Ipod conversion, seems like we need a manual like the one talked about in feb of this year. Did I miss the posting?  Is anybody listening?

Hi,

the manual was postponed for various reasons (I was out of time last months) but I'll try to write one.

However this problem seems to be a bug and not wrong settings. Please contact ump.

How do I do that, please? I sent an e-mail to fairuse@fairusewizard.com over a week ago, but have had no reply.

Regards,

Harry.

Thanks for the offer of writing a manual, we really appreciate this effort that will clear up a lot of questions . What would have to happen for us not to get a manual this year? Can we provide any assistance? This software is very special it only lacks a few items to put it in the perfect software category. I am alerting the media that the manual in on the way. Cheers Mark

Since my last post I've discovered one reason for the "muxing operation failed message.

When you do an iPod video conversion, what seems to happen is this:

1. The video is extracted to a ".avi" file and a ".ac3" file.
2. The audio is extracted to a ".wav" file.
3. The audio is converted to a ".aac" file.
4. The ".ac3" and ".aac" files are combined to produce the final ".mp4" file.

What I've noticed is that if, in step 2, the final ".wav" file is greater than 2GB in size, step 3 immediately fails with the dreaded "muxing operation fails". In that case, at least in the cases I've tried, splitting the video into two, so the resulting WAV file is <2GB in size works successfully.

Hope that's of some interest!

Regards,

Harry.

Same problem here.  I've been having good success with V2.5, but there are two movies that always give me the "Muxing operation failed" right at the end.  I'm trying the suggestion above of splitting into two parts to see if that helps.

This has got to be a bug, doesn't it?

Matt

I have the exact same problem in FairUse 2.9.
