Hi All.

May I say hello as I am new to this forum. Having said that I hope I will not /have not violated any protocols with my first question, and that being:

I was given a DVD recording with about (from memory) 10 episodes of a TV show, but it is the AVI format.

I wish to convert these to a normal DVD format that I can play on any stand alone DVD player. I understand that I will have to do some sort of conversion to do this and I am presently reading every thing I can find on this forum that will help me, but one problem answer I simply can not find, and that is:

Of the 10 episodes, I realise they will not all fit on 1 DVD after conversion. How can I tell how many of the episodes will fit on a single layer DVD disk without an episode stopping halfway through because it did not fit on the DVD?

I hope I did not sound too confused, but this being early days, I am still not sure as to what questions I am required to ask to get the job done correctly, if that is the right word.

Thanks for your reply, I will check out your suggested site and note your helpful tip.

As a point of information, they are one hour episodes, but as I understand it, AVI compression is a lot tighter that the normal DVD movies so that is why I asked in case someone may have a rough idea, and that's all it would be, a rough idea.

Hi,do you know the fast way of do that conversion? It's use WinAVI.And it's easy to use,you just need click step by step.You can choose "Constant video size" for conversion,it will tell you to check disc if the avi files is too large to convert to a small disc.You can try trial version first.
