Hi everyone,

I am very new to this so please excuse if I come across as completely stupid.
Basically when I burn divx / avi / xvid to disc ( dvd / cd ) and go to play them on my dvd player the motion in the film seems to be staggered and jumpy , the sound quality is great and the picture itself is top notch, it's just the movement seems to be jumpy.  I have tried converting using dvd santa and burning in latest version of nero as well.  The files themself play perfectly on my pc in real player and media player ( although both show divx settings in toolbar as running ).

Any help would be great,

Cheers

Use G-Spot or MediaInfo.

The video you have is PAL.
Are you playing the file as it is directly on a DivX player or converting to DVD then playing it?

If you are converting to DVD, maybe you should double check the settings to make sure you are making a PAL format DVD and not NTSC.

hey bT i need help with something similar...

I downloaded the movie in DivX format and then converted to DVD with DivXToDVD and burned it with CopyToDVD...

when I put it into the DVD player, it plays fine for the first five minutes and then it begins to pause every 2 minutes and it doesn't stop....do you know what the problem could be?

I tried to use GSpot to find the file info but I don't know how to copy it all...

^ try burning the files again @ a lower speed, try 4x. also, does your player like most discs (DVD-R/+R etc.)? if it doesn't then that also maybe your your prob.

Hey bT, I tried to convert the file with ConvertXtoDVD and burn it at 4x but i am still getting the same problem...

The player that I am putting it on is my friends DVD Player, I dont think its that good but I have played bootlegs on it before that he purchased.

do you think that it's the program I am using?  If so, is there one that you would recommend?

I doubt its the software, I use it day in day out without any hiccups. It just maybe that your friends DVD player doesn't fancy the brand of disc you're using. Have you tried the disc in another player?

No, I haven't had an opportunity to try it somewhere else yet.  I will be doing that when my friend gets out of work and maybe try to play it at his house.

I have played the same type of discs in his player though.  However, when I made the other movies I had downloaded it in VCD format and converted to DVD...not AVI to DVD as I am doing now....

do you think that downloading already in VCD format saves some hassle?

Downloading in VCD format? I would never convert it to DVD unless my player doesnt play VCDs.

See how you get on, if it still the same issue, post back.
