I have downloaded some movies(Xvid) with varying audio bitrate(384,448,etc.) - they are not playing in standard players(Samsung,Philips) compliant with DivX/XVid codecs. On attempting conversions from both XVid to XVid & DivX with usual audio bitrate of 128 or 192 are resulting in reduction of the sounds of the characters of the film concerned but the background sounds are ok.Please guide

did either the audio or video work in the players you tried?  This sounds like there were multiple channels on the audio track, in which case you need to extract the usual stereo tracks and re-save the video file with those.  Or combine the 5 channels or so into 2 stereo channels.
