First of all, I am far from an expert; I have, however, burned some DVD's and I know what little I know by reading and taking advantage of  the knowledge of much more qualified people on DVD forums. You will get a ton of info from forums. Some good ones are:  www.dvdr-digest.com, digitalfaq.com, and my suggestion to you is to especially go to http://forum.doom9.org.  They have a "newbie" section that is great (as do some of the others).  Incidentally, it seems Nero is not the burner of choice from what I've read. As you visit more and more forums, you will discover there are several "freebie" programs available. No need to rush out and buy something. The main thing now is to get to the forums and absorb!, absorb!, absorb! Hope this helps.  If you have questions, register on one or more of the forums so you can post a question...and don't feel embarassed. I've never seen anyone make fun of a newbie or fail to be helpful.  Forums are, to me, intensely interesting and they cover just about anything you'll run into.
