I have one ASF. file that will convert with pretty much every codec except the newest Divx codec.  All my other files are converting fine.

When I open the file in Winavi 8.0, and try to convert, a box pops up that reads "Compressor Connect Failed!  The Compressor is: DixX 6.5.1 Codec (2 Logical CPU's)".

Also....the same file won't even open to convert with Winavi 7.7, 7.6, etc.

Any solutions?

Why not choose other codec (e.g.ZJMedia MPEG-4 Encoder) instead of divx to have a try?

Thanks for the reply!

I like to use the Divx codec because you can clip with it.

I always re-size my files because stuff from the net is too big for TV screens (logos run off the screen, etc.).

First I take the file and set it to 88% width and 89% height....but this sometimes leave small areas of black on the edges (using higher than 88/89 will cause me to lose some picture sometimes)......so I then use the Divx codec settings to clip off that extra area so it fits EXACTLY right.

When you clip with Winavi, it only clips viewable stuff......if I use Winavi to clip, it missed the black area and cuts off the picture......so you can see why I need to use the Divx codec.

I haven't found another codec that allows for clipping yet....if you know of one, let me know!!
