Hi all,

I am currently testing winavi 8.0 and having trouble converting .MKV files, The files playback correctly normally and using graphedit i can see that the file splitter and decoders (audio + video) are the corect ones. But winavi is unable to convert the files, it just hangs.

I believe it is a problem is with the file splitter. Choosing haali or the internal Zmedia splitter makes no difference ( i do have latest haali installed ) and also choosing different video decoders (coreavc or ffdshow) also does not help ( i have both of these installed too)

I have forwarded my problem to winavi but am curious if anyone could offer a solution to my problem.

Thanks for listening
Dave

Edit
Not sure what i have changed but now i get a "divide by zero" error instead of it just hanging.
I should have also added that winavi works fine for all other containers, eg mpeg and avi

I have solved the crash by unchecking the "direct AC3" box in the encoder menu.
Now Waiting for winavi to finish conversion now so i can judge the output.

Seems a shame to waste CPU and sound quality on recoding AC3 back into AC3
I have mailed winavi to let them know

Yes, it is bug that the program will hang when user ticked "Enable DirectAC3" box. Anyway, this bug has been fixed. You may contact at the support center for the patch.

If you go to the free download page at the winavi site there is a button called 'resource', click it and you will see downloads, presumably it is one of those?

The patches on the "resource" are not for the version 8.0. They are for old versions.
FYI: the version 8.0 beta will be update in a few days, maybe you can wait for the upgrade.
