I now have it working. Problem was a screwed up download which is probably corrupted. It was a version 7.1 - so avoid that one. I uninstalled the 7.1 & downloaded a fresh version of 8.? file directly from their website. It worked perfectly the first time I tried.

Newbie to WinAVI here so I need some pretty basic help to get it working.

I just installed vs. 6.3. When it is started, it opens with a WinAVI Video Converter dialogue. It says "The aplication has detected that the following engine(s) have not been installed or installed incorrectly on your system. Name = Quik Time Codec, Version 6.5 or higher."! It also says "The file(s) of the corresponding format cannot be converted"!

Not knowing what to do at that point, I proceeded to try to convert an swf (flash) movie file to DVD; using the tutorial from this forum. Everything went as expected until the final step when the  "Converting" window opens. With the exception of the title bar, the "Converting" box is blank. It just hangs there without any further response. I have to manually shut it down.

What's wrong here & how can I fix it? Since this is all new to me, replies with specific directions will be very much appreciated.
