Who knows what code is H264?Even if I do not understand but it is really good.Because I use a DVD Alldj to iPod Converter is that the use of the coding.I found that it has many unique features.
1.  Fastest converting speed,up to 300% real time
2.  Easy to add or remove DVD subtitle to output video file
3.  Full control audio and video parameter
4.  Support all commercial DVD and remove all the restrictions of DVD(CSS,Region,RCE,Sony ARccOS(Sony DVD encrypted)

Never used h.264. If I encode all my ipod movies as h.264, it makes the battery out of power faster.
you'd better encode it as divx/xvid.
