Hi djspinout,

Yhis problem could be due to your DVD media or your DVD Writers firmware.
Nero only detects what your DVD Writer or media is capable of and if you can not select Joliet, then it must be because it is not available to Nero.

Try some different media and see if it solves your problem. If not, then update Nero to the latest version.

Good luck Cheesy

I create home movie DVD\'s using Pinnacle Studio 8, which is an app that creates .vob and .ifo files.  I tried following the \"How to burn a DVD-Video Disc with Nero Burning ROM\" and have the following problems:

1.  I cannot select Joliet.  I am using a Sony DRU-500A burner with firmware 2.0h.  According to the instructions above, it should be checked.  I am unable to select this box with or without media inserted.

2.  I went ahead with trying to burn and get the following error when dragging and dropping the files to the left (to be burned) side:  \"The file E:\\Video_ts\\Vts_01_0.bup could not be read.\"  When I check ok, it does appear that the file is moved to be burned.  But then when I click on burn, I get a \"DVD-Video files compliance test failed.  The resulting DVD-Video might be unplayable.  Do you want to continue?\"

Any ideas on the problems I\'m having?

About the Joliet, you don\'t have to worry, this is not a problem.

Now the second problem, may be a problem of the authoring program (try DVD X Maker or TMPGEnc DVD Author).
You can try burning in a DVD-RW and see if it works.

My problem was that my DVD\'s generated by Studio 8 were creating a corrupt VTS_01_0.bup file. I got around this by copying the original file and renaming it, and then creating my image. Rather than copy from DVD to DVD with mixed results (and 30 minutes), I now burn from an image in only 5 minutes.

Nice way, but it may not work all the time.

Use another authoring program, I have not heard the best for this one.

What are some of the better authoring programs out there?  I\'ve been considering doing my authoring outside of Studio for some time now.

Try TMPGEnc DVD Author which has a free trial available. Find it at www.pegasys-inc.com

You can also get DVD X Maker.

Have a look at both guides:
