I have windows vista and I am using winavi video converter 8.  When I am trying to convert vob files to avi files winavi stops working and I have to un-install and re-install, this happens every time -  its alright trying to convert avi to dvd, I would appreciate if anyone can help .

I got much the same problem. I don't have to reinstall winavi every time, but I do have to stop it running via the task manager or reboot the PC. It doesn't seem to happen with all the conversion options under the 'advanced' button, but most of them cause the fault. At least all the ones that produce decent quality AVI's crash, anyway. If it's of any use, I'm trying to convert VOB's that were made with a Sony DVD camera. Any help appreciated. I'm running XP-SP2, 1G ram, P4 processor, Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo p.

Think I cracked it vee. After you've selected the VOB files, try hitting the 'Open as DVD' button. That seems to be working much better. No lock-ups, fast converstion to AVI. Best of luck.

I found Daniusoft Video Converter could help you convert VOB to AVI in a good quality.
And it could help you convert any video formats with trim/crop/effect video as you want.
