question about file size after conversion (non-TMPGEnc)

first of all, i am completely new to Divx and DVD and i apologize for my lack of knowledge

my roommate and i are purchasing a DVD burner in the near future because we have a large quantity of .avi files that we wish to record onto DVDs and watch on our DVD player. each of the files is approximately 87 megabytes in size and are encoded in DivX;) 3.11a video compression format, with MP3 audio, which is encoded in 128kbit/s.

the question that i have is what should i expect the filesize of each of these files to be when they have been encoded in the appropriate format for DVD (mpeg2, i think)? also, how many files should i expect to be able to fit on each blank DVD? any help would be held in the highest respects.

each file runs 22-23 minutes in length

You can select how many you want to put in a disc, but setting the bitrate.

Yu can put 7-10 files in a DVD without the quality being reduced much. I\'d suggest that 8 files is the best value.
