I'm using 2.8 on PS3 mode and if I try to select a small portion of a video it converts it fine but if I chose the whole video it errors out just before writing the output file with the following error:

"The DVD could not be converted. Unable to transcode audio"

Looking closer at the logs, it looks like what is happening is it is converting the wav to aac twice. So the second time it does it the wav file has already been deleted and so it errors out:

Yup, confirmed that seems to be the problem. The audio seems to be converted twice. If I save a copy of the .wav file and replace it the first time it is deleted, the encode then works.

another thing that seems to work is uncheck "delete intermediate files" but then you have to manually delete the extra files after the encode.

Yep!  Unchecking the delete intermediate files now leads to a completed conversion in the iPhone setting.   Grin

I'll have a look at this, thanks for the feedback and the diagnostic, which will save me some time. Smiley

I am experiencing the same problem running Vista and attempting to encode for Apple TV.  I will try unchecking the "Delete intermediates" but so far have tries several different discs with the same result.

I've tried the delete intermediate files thing but still get audio error cannot transcode and this is after 2 hours of the first pass...any solution or update or something...I want to encode in x264 fast aac audio...

edit...reinstalled 2.8 and have now had success with encoding a complete dvd with delete intermediate files unchecked so...ok for now...
