Is it possible to Burn multiple VCD\'s or MPG1-files to a DVD in VCD quality?

I have 20-25 VCD\'s with home movies which I would like to put on a couple DVD\'s, but if I reencode to DVD-standard then I can only put 120mins on a DVD. Because the original is MPG1 quality it isn\'t much use to have it reencoded in MPG2 quality.

To make a long story short: how can I make a MegaVCD on a DVD with 8 hrs of MPG1 video?Huh

Thx in advance for all replies

Yes you can but there are some hitches.

First your DVD player has to be VCD compatibile and it has to be compatible with VCD\'s on DVD media.  Some will read them off a CDR but not a DVD.

Make sure the VCD\'s are to VCD standard.  Some players will not read non-standard VCD\'s.  Tmpeg Encoder will tell you if files are and even Nero will.

I burn mine as data DVD and just throw the files right on it.  My DVD brings up a browser where I can select a file to play.  Yours may or may not.

Tmpeg DVD Author will do it too.  You can even make a nice menu for it if your player doesn\'t have the browser!  I can fit about 4 VCD\'s.  Lower quality VCD\'s will be able to fit more.

Hi there,

In general, this is not a good idea. Most DVD players will not play these unstandard dvds but some on the market will do. ShockTroop obviously has a dvd player that can play non-standard dvds but you may not!
