I don't know if I'm using the wrong media or what. every DVD i burn will not play in anything.  my DVD players say incorrect disk, and my xbox says unreadable disk.  Could someone please tell me what the deal is with this

What media are you using? Have you tried lowering the burning speed?

Also make sure you can correctly burning a DVD Video disc and not a simple Data DVD.

The Xbox works much better with DVD+R discs.

Also try to burn in a much lower speed, like 4x.
