Possibly a bug in FairUse... I tried ripping the DVD "Melinda and Melinda" but the resulting video file doesn't have any audio.  I tried it as an MP4 and an AVI and I'm using the latest version of FairUse.  One possible explanation, this movie apparently has a mono audio track, which is unusual.  Does FairUse have a problem with ripping audio for mono DVDs?
