I burned some off-the-air programs or VHS contents on my Panasonic DVD recorder from its hard disk to DVD-R\'s, but creating chapters/scenes is slow and unwieldy, so I was hoping to be able to do some editing with a computer DVD authoring program.  However, when I imported the VOB files onto NeroVision Express, each file is reduced drastically to a few seconds or minutes, but showing the whole movie in Windows Media Player is not a problem although arbitrary chapters are there (23 as against 4 or 5 VOB files).  I guess I need to rip the movie and somehow restore the VOB to MPEG format before any further editing.  I don\'t know where to do the conversion in TMPGEnc Plus.  Please help!  Thanks.

Just rip the files using DVD decrypter and try to load the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in an authoring program or the whole directory that you have the files in as some programs support.

Thanks for the help.
However, using DVD Decrypter to rip them did not help either and gave me the same results (in Nero, each file is reduced drastically to a few seconds or minutes, in Roxio\'s DVD Builder, \"stop and go\" pictures).
How come I was able to copy the files to my hard drive without using DVD Decrypter, that is, without \"ripping\"?  What can I do now?

Are you saying that some programs allow you to import vobs for editing without converting them? (What are they?) I only want to make a menu, what is the easy way please? Thanks
