Hello,
I just bought a NU Tech external dvd burner and have tried to copy a movie with DVD x copy platinum with little luck. It reads the movie fine, but then in step two it asks to insert a blank dvd. When I put one in (DVD-R that came with the burner) it basically doesn\'t do anything and I can\'t even get the dvd out of the DVD burner. The button you should click on never gets highlighted. It basically locks up.
I have also tried another program, DVD clone (free trial) and after reading just fine, it asked for me to insert a DVD, I did, and it also gave me an error message. Something about it not being a blank DVD. Is it the burner that may be defective or is it the programs? I also heard that it could be the blank DVD-Rs? Is it worth trying to buy some blank brand name DVD-Rs? Is there a way to test the DVD burner somehow or run a check on it?
Thanks alot in advance for any help!

It\'s not allowing to use this tpye of disk for some reason.  Does your drive support dvd+R disks?  If so this is what I use and don\'t seem to have a problem.

Did you try the use the software that came with the computer?, try not using a movie but just data and see if this works.  And or Maybe just maybe.  The disk needs to be formated first and then the drive will read the disk.  I just havn\'t ran into this problem to tell more sorry.

After many hours of messing with the dvd burner and the software I decided to get some brand name dvd-r s. Guess what? It solved all the problems! Needless to say I am pissed with the company for providing me cheap ass discs that don\'t work. I bought some good ones and didn\'t get any error messages and the movies copied perfectly!
So all you having problems with new hardware and/or software I suggest you get some good DVDrs to begin with.

What brand did you buy that worked better?Did you buy a different format? I\'m using Memorex DVD-R and had the same problem with half of them using them on a Sony Burner that is suppose to be capable of buring to DVD+R or DVD- R. It would go right to finalizing and ruin the blank.

I actually use Memorex 4x DVD-R. They are the ones that come in a 10 pack with the DVD cases. I got a good deal at bestbuy. They were on sale for 14.99 with free shipping. I guess a little more expensive than you can find on ebay, etc but still not bad.
If you are still having problems with better brand DVDs than maybe you should try copying a non protected DVD (list can be found online somewhere) and don\'t use DVD x copy but instead use the regular program that came with the burner (Nero, SOnic ,etc).
You might want to double check if memorex makes more than one kind of DVD-R because the ones i got said they\'re for movies so maybe there is a little difference between that and the data version? Maybe someone can comment upon this.
Hope this helps.
