Have a look at http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers and see if your DVD player supports recordable DVDs and if yes what type (DVD-R or DVD+R)

PAL is used in Europe and NTSC in USA. Their differences are many, with the more important the ones of fps and resolution.

Now about your problem, nobody has this problem, which is I understand is that the DVDs that you copy and burn with various other programs work fine except the ones that you create with TMPGEnc DVD Author.
What I suggest is that you first get the latest version of it (http://www.pegesys-inc.com) so that we make sure that there is not a bug that has been fixed that causes that problem, so get and install the latest version.
Then you\'ll have to see if the DVD files are OK, try to test some with PowerDVD or another similar program. If the files are OK, maybe it\'s the TMPGEnc burning engine? Try to save the files somewhere and burn them with Nero.

Let me know what happened.

You can try turning your SVCD into DVDs using this guide:
http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides.php?category=othertodvd&name=vcdtodvd
or this guide:
http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides.php?category=othertodvd&name=tmpegencvcdtodvd

You can try also DVD X Maker as an authoring program. Find it here:
