i used TMPGenc to convert divx files, and then used TMPGenc dvd author to burn the dvd. I dont know if its just my TV or what, but when i play it on a standalone dvd player, the subtitles that were on the original are cut off. i usually use 4:3 and fullscreen (keep aspect ratio). i tried using widesreen but it distorts the picture too much. can anyone tell me how to fix this without distorting the picture?

I have the same problem. This is because every TV has overscan that cuts off a bit of the video. This is what I did. For Video Arrange Method, set it at Center (custom size). And the size, I suggest subtracting 60 from horizontal and vertical. So a DVD is 720x480. I made it 660x420.

When I was making SVCDs, I set it at 420x420 and it worked well. But when I switched to DVD and used 660x420, there were still a bit of the subs cut off. Maybe I should set it to something smaller for 660? The top and bottom are fine, just left and right are a bit cut off. If anyone has a better solution, please post here.

Edit:
Advice? You should convert a small scene with those settings and then burn it to a DVD+/-RW so in case it\'s not correct, you can correct it, erase the disc, and try again.
