HI

Dunno if will be able to help me, but im attemting to convert an avi file to .mv2 using cinema craft encoder.  The trouble is, once ive got the mv2 file and attempt to put into tmpg dvd author, the frame rate of the film and the length of the film change from that of the original avi file.

Putting the avi into gspot tells me that the file is 1hour 32mins in length, with 132,146 frames.  the frame rate is 23.97 per secs.  I manage to convert this file fine to mv2 file type but because the frame rate is 23.97 im unable to put this file into dvd author.  So i then use pulldown batch to convert the frame rate to pal (i.e. 25 frames per sec)  But once i go put the converted file into tmpg author it tells me that the frame rate has increased as has the time length of the film, goes up about fifteen minutes in total.  Im really stumped as to what im doing wrong and its driving me round the bend!!!  Ive followed a guide i found to the letter as far as i can see but i must be doing something wrong

Please take sympathy!!! Sad

Hi there,

do not change the frame rate, just create an NTSC DVD and it will probably work with your DVD player.

hi

NOt entirely sure what u mean?  I have to change the frame rate of the mv2 file beacuse it comes out of cce as 23.97 and the dvd author program wont accept this.  Also, the sound then wont be long enough.  Im usinf virtual dub to grab it and then be sweet to convert it to an ac3 file with a frame rate of 25 per sec.  Also ive been told that if the frame rate is increased, then in theory the film should actually become shorter rather than longer.  somewhere along the line, the original length ofg the film is being increased by around 30,000 frames and i dunno where they are coming from?

sorry if im being stupid

Hi there,

no you do not seem stupid to me.
25fps is PAL while 23.97 is NTSC. Most DVD players play both, so just select settings for NTSC in your DVD Authoring program (instead of PAL) as this is much easier than changing the frame rate.
