This is my first use of Fairuse Wizard and I am experiencing some problems. After I went through all the steps I go to th elast step to convert the DVD and I get a dialog box that says: The DVD could not be converted>>Could not load CODEC settings.
Also in the section where you set the credit start, it would not allow me to press this button.
Anyhelp with this would be much appreciated as I feel like I have tried everything and it still does not work.

thanx

In the first screen click options and enable expert settings. The select to use the internal codecs and try again.

Thankx for the tip, unfortunately that did not work. I enabled the setting and it still did not work. I need to know how to do this. I t says that it still can not load the codec. I checked in my program file as well and I do have the codec for DIVX. I am kind of baffled. I s there something I am not doing correctly....obviously so. I also tried the output setting of Xvid and it did not work either. Please let me know how I can remedy this.

Thanx

Please try to install the latest XviD from here http://www.roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml and tell if this helps. If it doesn\'t, uncheck the \"use internal XviD codec\" option.

I had the same problem - installing the codec from http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml and restarting FUW then selecting xVid worked for me....

This is a \"bug\" in the installer. Installing XviD will solve this.

I\'ve got the same prob, and no, a reinstalling of XVID does not work.
What else needs to be installed to run Fairuse?
It worked already on this PC, but since a new installation I always get \"the Message\".

Edit:
XVID internal checked does not work
XVID internal unchecked does not work, too.
XVID-codec, linked in this thread, is installed
DIVX (5.2.1) works as it should...

Only XviD is needed to solve the \"could not load codec settings\" issue. Please post your c:\\fairuse.log file.

k, I kept on trying...
reinstalled the whole system
Only Windows 2000 + sp4, VGA + IDE + Sound-Drivers, nothing else...
Fairuse LE
Xivd from http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml
at first XviD-1.0.3-20122004.exe (621kb)
then with XviD-1.1.0-Beta1-16012005.exe (628kb)

ISO on local drive, imported by the file-function (not the virtual or real dvd-drive)
tried different ISOs...

no difference, still \"The Message\"...

Log-Files can be posted, if needed

Another funny thing:
I\'ve tried it now on 4(!) different machines, all have been reinstalled in the last few days.
It works only one one system, on the other three systems always \"the Message\" (2 XP and 2 Win2000sp4-Systems)
Before reinstallation it worked on every machine.

The next release should hopefully fix this.
