First up, thank you for the guides, easy to understand for a newbie. Big up to you all!!  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

I have burned a few DVDs and they are great on the DVD players I\'ve tried as well as the playstation. (from divx) But when I try to play the same DVD on the PC I have no sound. (also no sound when played through 5.1 surround sound--- have no idea if that is normal, but i\'m not to bothered about that.)

I tried both mainconcept as well as tmpge, I also tried converting soundto wav. I\'m quickly running out of ideas. That said, I have only been at this DVD stuff pretty recently.

I\'ve been trying to sort this for a while and it seems most people have the opposite problem - no sound on players as opposed to PCs.

Any help much appreciated.

 Cheesy

Hi there and welcome to the forum,

Maybe you just have to select the audio track using the settings of your DVD program? If you are using an AC3 decoder (hardware) connected to your PC< maybe it does not decode the Mp2 audio that you have probably used?

What do you suggest I do?

Afonic was refreing to the AC3 Decoder, you may not have it installed.It\'s not used much, but some vids are encoded to play with it.You can DL it here:
http://www.nuclearion.com/files/ac3filter_0_70b.rar
All so,do you have all the newst codec\'s?You can visit microsoft updates to check.

Thanks for that folks,  Cheesy but no joy.  I downloaded what you said, but just the same problem. I tried the DVDs on my mates PC, and that son o\' a bitch\'s PC played it no problems, he had no extra codecs installed as well because he just reinstalled XP.

Man, I have no idea. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance   Cheesy

Do normal DVDs (not copied ones) play OK in your PC?

Normal DVDs are OK, if I copy directly from a normal DVD thats OK too.

It\'s the one i\'ve converted from divx etc that I have the problems with.

I used both real player and windows media player, reinstalled them both. Still no luck. I\'m using XP and this happens with all the DVDs I\'ve made (other than copying from a normal DVD)

I believe it\'s the MP2 audio track that your computer cannot decode for some reason.

Try to install an MP2 codec (hint: Google search, I don\'t know any!).

I don\'t know, I am really out of ideas. Just use PCM audio in the first screen if TMPGEnc and not Mp2.
