Hi, I asked a couple questions here: http://www.dvd-guides.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=617 ,  in order to copy a DVD for my friend.  Thanks to you it was successful, but I\'d really like to enable a title - main screen in which I can select which track to start on.  In wanting to do this, I installed  TMPGEnc DVD Author, and followed your guide.  However, I\'m not sure if what I\'m doing is correct, since it only shows my files as one track, instead of the 4 that there are suppose to be. I took several screenshot of this in order to try to illustrate my question more clearly: (don\'t worry, this time I converted them to .jpg so they arn\'t 1 meg big)

So here are the files I want to burn, I just dragged the folder into the box where it asks me to imput the videos, because otherwise, it says they are not the correct format - weird, since they work fine on my dvd player:
http://www.moogle6.com/Pictures/Copy%20of%20Capture_05062004_155001.jpg

so then this pops up, so I\'m assuming everything is OK:
http://www.moogle6.com/Pictures/Copy%20of%20Capture_05062004_155015.jpg

I\'m kindof confused about what to do now, but i click on one, and click next and it loads, some chapter information and somthign like this pops up:
http://www.moogle6.com/Pictures/Copy%20of%20Capture_05062004_155048.jpg

I got no clue about that, so I click OK, and then this comes up:
http://www.moogle6.com/Pictures/Copy%20of%20Capture_05062004_155051.jpg

I guess this is ok for one of the files, but there are 3 more that are suppose to be on the DVD.  Do I now click add another file, or am I doing something totally wrong?

I hope you can make sense of what I am trying to say.  One more question, although I have not got to this step in the burning process, when making for menu/startup screen for the DVD, can you insert your own background instead of the blue one it provides? As I said, I havn;t gotten to this step yet, so this might just be a dumb question.

Thanks for any help, and keep up the great, informative site !

Actually this is what you should do:

Select Add DVD Video and select the folder that you have the files into.

There you should see something like that, but your\'s should have 4 titles. Select the first one and follow the steps to add it.

Finally click Add New Track and follow the same steps to add title 2. Use the same way to add titles 3 and 4 and you should be OK.

Thanks for the help, however, after adding all 4 tracks, it says the file size is 4510/4438 MB , so I\'m not sure if this will burn properly.  And as of my 2nd question up there, can I add or edit new backgrounds for the menu?

thanks for all the help

For the first problem, export the DVD files from TMPGEnc DVD Author and then load them in DVD Shrink and compress them a little.

About the menu, you can actually select New Theme, and then Edit where you can select a background image you want.

Great, everything worked like a dream, with a perfect menu, and great quality, except there were no subtitles.  When I rip it from the DVD using DVD shrink, I make sure subpicture is on.  After, I play the files and they all have working subtitles.  However, after going throgh TMPGEnc DVD author, they lose their subtitles.  I have no idea why, but is there something I have to check off in order for them to work?

Thanks for all the help

Oh, no wonder, So should I try using the DVD X Maker? or will that not give me the nice menus that TMPGEnc DVD Author had.  And does DVD X Maker support subtitles?

thanks

Either that, or can I burn the subtitles into the image in a sort of speak? Like, make them part of the image itself since I will always want them turned on?

You need to use an authoring program that uses subtitles, and I don\'t know any. I will have a look and post if I find something.

IfoEdit can add subtitles, maybe you can import the DVD after you use TMPGEnc DVD Author and add the subtitles.

I got the program from here, and unless I\'m doing something horribly wrong, I think you have to donate to use the forum.
