I cannot read 1/2 of my backups in a Denon DVD player but they all seem to work in an old Sony machine, the funny bit is that the movie I am backing up is 3 hours long, and the 2 write sessions only took 12 minutes for the 1st disc and 11 minutes for the 2nd disc... So 3 hours is 180 minutes, divide by 2 (split onto 2 discs)= 90 minutes, then divide by 4 (burner is a Lite-On 451, 4X Burner) = 22.5 minutes so why is it burning each disc in 1/2 the time, is it trying to run at 8X?

BTW the disc\'s are Datasafe 4X G04 Rytek and the Lite-On 451 has Lite-On\'s DR4GSB6 firmware

Hi,
first of all even if the movie is 3hours or 2hours or 1 the time it takes to be burned is the same. That\'s because Xpress compress the movies to fit exactly in one DVD-R. Of course 12 minutes is not long enough, it usually takes 15-18 minutes.
Now if the copies are working OK in the Sony DVD player there is something wrong with the Denon one. Have a look at http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers to see what media type and brand your player preffers.
