hi everyone,

I\'m backing up my dvd\'s.
I have made a compilation of titles that i would like to have on 1 single dvd.
After ripping my dvds with dvd shrink, i ended up with a folder with dvd files.
now, i open TMEPGenc dvd author and i click on \'add dvd video\' to import these files wich are:
title1   822Mb
title2   986Mb
title3   622Mb
title4   820Mb
title5   720Mb
title6   490Mb

my question:
how i start to make a menu step by step with all these files please.
also when i clicked on the first title...it shows there is no sound available. (i checked it out with another software..and it did play the sound.) Therefore i\'m kinda afraid to burn a dvd with a bad result...
my question sounds very newbie i know....but i am a real newbie Smiley
thanks for answering,

The menu is being created very easily, what is your problem?

Now about the sound, sometimes I have problem using AC3 too, I am still searching for a solution.

I tried again the process
Here what i have done:

in the add dvd-video wizard.
i choose my title
and i can see audio to use for the selected title:
audio1  DOlby Digital(AC-3), 48000 Hz, 2ch

why when i select the audio too and i click on \'ok\" it says:

audio imput file name: unspecified
audio iuput format: there is no audio

I took the risk to ignore this warning..but in the end, i burned a dvd-r playing a movie with no sound.
i double checked the folder that contains my files audio_TS and video_TS (The one i used to bring the files in TMPGEnc DVD author) and the sound played fine.
what\'s the prb?

Please help me, i would like to understand if that\'s a bug..or if there is something first to do to correct that problem.

i tried again this time with moviefactory 3.
here what warning popup message i got:

[c\\dvd movie factory 3\\import_dvd\\dmf040603-001.MPG] contains Dolby Digital audio tracks.
DVD movie factory does not support this audio format. Do you still want to insert this video clip?

i canceled it as i know i will end up again with a movie with no sound..
i can\'t wait to read your comments!
thx for answering,

I\'m really stuck with this one.

Here\'s what I found in TMPGEnc page (I don\'t know if makes things clear):

Quote
Currently (2003/10/03) decoding is not possible.
The reason is the Dolby Laboratories license.

Editing possibility...
- PCM or MPEG-2 to AC-3 encoding (On some Sony Vaio computer)
(Use Vaio embeded software AC-3 encoder function)
-Video cut-editing without decode.

Impossibility...
- AC-3 re-encoding (ex: AC-3 to linear PCM)
- AC-3 play during video edition (playing means decoding)
- Re-edit multi-language DVD-Video
(Use MP2 or linear PCM to ensure re-edition).

cf: Dolby 2ch, 5.1ch

here what i have done more:

i updated my TMEGenc author from vers. 15.13.44 to 15.20.62.
but still same prb.
i then did something else interresting...
i went to open files from dvds files i have ripped with DVD Decrypter.
I tried again to use TMPEGenc author by opening files from several dvds (ripped by dvd decrypter) and i could see the audio.
apparently it can read audio1 Linear PCM, 48000HZ, 3ch
but it cant read audio1 dolbydigital (AC-3), 48000HZ, 3ch

i compared the 2 folders.
a movie ripped with dvd decrypter, contains just video_ts (wich tmpegenc author will read the audio later)
a movie ripped with dvd shrink (the one i want to author) contains audio_TS and video_TS

that is the prb...
I tried somehow to use dvd decrypter to ripp the movie with audio_TS and video_TS...but this program go automatically search my dvd player.
Is it possible to decrypt a folder with video+audio files? instead of a dvd in the dvd player...
if yes, how? if no, any idea how i could change the audio_TS in the correct format. (in linea PCM)
and how i will embed the final audio (PCM) in the video_TS folder in order to use it properly with tmpegenc author...

I hope you could understand what i have explained...Smiley
thx for ur time;)

since i know it\'s dvd shrink that creates a folder with video_ts and audio_ts subfolders....i tried to see if i had options in tab \'backup dvd\" to have only video_TS (with audio PCM inside)
but nothing...
i need your advice to figure out this prb. I can\'t go further...Sad

I still wonder how people can use dvd decrypter+dvd shrink+tpmegenc author together...with no hassle :/

google for dvd2avi and ac3 delay corrector.

load vobs into dvd2avi then save project. this takes 3-5 mins per movie. You now have a ac3 file that will load into tmpgenc author and gives you a soundtrack.

however the sound track will be out of sync on most dvds because of the way the ac3 is muxed on original dvd. so load this ac3 into the delay corrector program and save a new ac3 file. this takes 30 seconds.

load this file into tmpgenc author audio field and you will have perfect synced audio on your menu dvd.

if you have several episodes per dvd, do it for each episode/vob set and load the ac3 audio for each menu item.

installing AC3 Delay corrector didnt work for me:

\"this applicationhas failed to start because GFaWin23.Ocx was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.\"

that\'s the pop up message i got...:/

i tried several times to install it but still same message..
did you encounter the same prb?

Maybe you can download it from here:
http://www.windll.com/ocx-all.php

Then try to copy it in Windows\\System32 and if it does not work Windows\\System or Windows root. Also put a copy in the program\'s folder.

newbbie u said:
\"load vobs into dvd2avi then save project. this takes 3-5 mins per movie\"
i did that but what it is saved by doing what u said is:
VTS_01_1.d2v
VTS_01_1 AC3 T01 2_0ch 256Kbps DELAY -211ms.ac3

I tried to open it with TMPGEnc DVD by clicking on \'add video files\" but no success...it didnt work.
i followed this guide for dvb2avi:

http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/dvd2avi.html

I need a step by step tut for both prg to show me how to solve my prb..
thx for answering,

hi there, the guide is fine, you put the audio in the audio field of the clip info screen, not the project video screen.

for video you put the vobs from dvd shrink or decryptor as normal. Tmpgenc will show an audio from the vobs but will not produce an audio track if it can\'t decode ac3. This is why people get a dvd with no soundtrack. When this happens you need to provide an ac3 audio track.

This is done with with dvd2avi project save, and your file is
VTS_01_1 AC3 T01 2_0ch 256Kbps DELAY -211ms.ac3
the rest of the dvd2avi stuff, the text and d2v etc you can delete. This file will provide the audio of the dvd in tmpgenc, but the audio will be out by 211mS and lip sync will be wrong.

so you put this file through the ac3 delay corrector which removes 211ms from the beginning of the audio so sync is now perfect. Load this audio file *.ac3 into the audio field below the video field in tmpgenc.

create project

add dvd video - load your vobs etc

next, it counts the chapters etc.

then you get the add clip/clip information screen with the video filled in but the audio unspecified or grayed. Click browse on the audio and load the final *.ac3 file. Now carry on to make menu and you get a perfect soundtrack in sync.
