I have a new TDK 4X multi burner. I was backing up a movie using DVDShrink 3.1.5 (no compression necessary). It is linked with Nero 6.0. When Nero tried to write the image to a -RDVD (CompUSA) it errored out. I then tried the same thing using the TDK 4X -RDVD that came with the burner. Same error. I then had DVDShrink write the Nero Image file to my HDD and used DVDDecrypter 3.1.9.0 to write the image file to another CompUSA -RDVD. It also gave an error (Cannot Write Medium - Incompatable Format). I then used DVDDcrypter to write the image to the TDK 4X +RDVD that came with the burner. It worked perfectly. Today I spoke with On-line Tech support and they suggested upgrading the firmware to 1.0A, which I have done. However, nothing has changed. I got the same error using an Imation 4X -RDVD (see log file from DVDDecrypter below), but it worked perfectly with an Imation 4X +RDVD. Error information is as follows:
I/O Error
Device:[1:0:0] TDK DVDRW0404N 1.0A (G:)
Scsi Staus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition
CDB: 2A 00 00 00 0C 00 00 00 00 10 00
Interpretation: Write (10) - Sectors 3072 - 3087
Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 30 05 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatable Format.

TDK Tech support say that Nero 6 has known problems with -RDVDs and that since DVDShrink uses the Nero engine that\'s the problem. Might fix with an upgrade to 6.3.0.3? I have since used ImgTool to create an image file which I burned successfully to a -RDVD with Roxio CD/DVD Creator. So, it would seem to confirm that Nero 6 has problems with -RDVDs?

Were you using Nero 6.0, one of the later versions of Nero 5 which I have heard are ok, or the upgraded 6.3.0.3?
