This happen to me as well, I don\'t use dvdx 2, but I just manually put the codec in..  Maybe in your case you need plugin\'s or update.  Like I said I never used dvdx 2.  Their should be away to manually have the program see new codec\'s once they are installed if it didn\'t see it while installing new codecs.

It happened to another user:
he had many codecs installed and didn\'t noticed the scrollbar that is in the right of the drop-down list of DVDx, and appears only when you have many codecs installed.

All I get in the drop-down is DivX Codec 4.12.
I have a lot of codecs installed.
The thing is, when I click on the settings it gets me to the divx 5.1.1 pro settings.
What do you say? Should I try to encode and hope it will use 5.1.1?

Just uninstall all the codecs you have and then install only the ones you need. Do not use any codec packs, they create a nice \"codec mess\".

I tried this to...
I am using Nemo Codec Pack. I tried to uninstall it and to install only divx 5.1.1
Nothing seems to change this

Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware tab and select Sound, video and game controllers. Double click on Video codecs.
Select the properties tab and remove all of them.
Then install DivX 5.1.1 again. Note that if you have the retail version and you have not registered you can not encode, so you cannot \"see\" the codec in DVDx.

I don\'t see it anywhere in the CP.
Maybe it\'s elsewhere in XP?
I am using windows XP pro

Uninstall Nemo codec pack and try.

What can\'t you see? (in what step?)

OK.

I got rid of Nemo and installed just the DivX and XviD Codecs.
What I can\'t see is what you mentioned should be in the Control Panel
How can I get a list of codecs that are installed on my comuter?

I am using Win XP Pro, Intel Pentium 1.7GHz, 256Mb ram(266 MHz). (Is the video card a factor in encoding?)

In Control Panel open System.

The select the hardware tab and click device manager (I forgot that).
Then open Sound, video and game controllers (by clicking the + symbol next to it) and then double-click video codecs.

There you can see all of them and remove any if you want.

I still can only see DivX 4.12...
I\'ll try it this way because when I got to the settings it gives me the 5.1.1.

Just one last question, how do I choose the audio format? (I want it to be AC3 and I can only see MP3)

Thanks again

Just output the AC3 file from the Input settings window, then disable sound in  the settings and mix the sound with the video using VirtualDub.
