Hi there

I wonder if anybody could help me. For a while now I have been trying to change my pc files to be able to burn them onto a dvd. I found this winavi program and it seemed really easy for someone as dense as me to use. It all worked fine although when I go to burn it will never start - it just comes up with an error message straight away.

I don\'t know enough about this sort of thing to even be able to trouble shoot! Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Thanks
Jem

Hmm I need 2 things:

1) What is the error messageyou get?
2) Can\'t you burn with other programs? (Nero, CopyToDVD, etc)

thanks for getting back to me.

I have tried using nero to burn it as well, but it doesn\'t seem to work either. I haven\'t actually burned a visual dvd yet - it has all been data, so it could be that my knowledge is lacking. The thing I liked about thewinavi was that it seemed very simple. I followed every step down to a t.

The error message that comes up is: Write first track fail

Then if I try again it comes up in different languages.

If you can help me that would be great.

Thanks

Use the Nero guide and tell me if you were able to write a successfull DVD:

I changed a few of my settings and I have managed to write two dvds, but neither of them would actually play on a dvd player. I wrote one with winavi and another with nero but both failed. I have followed the guides exactly, so I dont know what is going wrong???

I have noticed that a few other people have been having trouble with winavi that their dvds haven\'t been playing. I have been told that some dvd players won\'t play \'copied\' dvds, by that they mean ones made from the pc - not actually copied films. And yet othe poeple have been telling me that it shouldn\'t make a difference. I have also been trying the dvds on a dvd recorder with no success.

With winavi I have put all of the files that come in disk_0 into the encode to burn, I really am at a loss now.

Even if someone could reiterate what I am doing that would be great, sorry for the hassle.

Hmm,

you shoud NOT put DISK_0 in the DVD! You should have only two folders, one named VIDEO_TS that will include ALL the VOB, IFO, etc files that WinAVI created and one named AUDIO_TS that will be empty.

sorry I should have made myself clear. I put all of the files that went to disk_0 onto the dvd in the video_ts part and left the audio empty. I didnt actually transfer the whole folder onto dvd.

Any other ideas??

OK just two more things.

1) The folder is VIDEO_TS and not video_ts right? I know it seems crazy but it does matter.

2) Can you burn video DVDs in your PC generally?

the file, directory, is VIDEO_TS.

And I have never been able to burn video dvds. I only got my dvd burner recently and I have been trying to burn a disk since then. I have tried everything, TMPGenc, g-spot, avisynth etc, nero, winavi. But everything seems far too complicated for me, and even if I do follow the instructions extremely carefully it always ends up not working.

So the only thing I have been able to use my burner so far for is for data!

Well as you understand we have to find out if the problem is with WinAVI or generally with your system.

Can you try copy and burn a disc with DVD Shrink? There are instructions here:

Thanks

I have just finished authoring and burning a dvd using tmpgenc. It actually worked on my xbox, but after 5 minutes the lip sync started to go out. By the end of the dvd it was ten seconds out!

Can anyone help.
