ok,

I decided that tmpgenc was just taking too long - about 4 and 1/2 hours for a 40 minute clip! Plus I couldn\'t be bothered with the wave file transfer etc. So I went back to try and use winavi again. But now whenever it gets to 100% it keeps coming up with an error. Runtime errors and source cannot be read etc.

We now know that  it\'s not my system that\'s duff, so what can I do to try and fix this now

Very baffled :S

Just try WinAVI v5.7 beta2 test version, it fixed all the bugs we have known. You can get it from:
http://www.winavi.com/WinAVI57_beta2.exe

If you find any problem, please contact us: support@winavi.com

I have just tried the new version of winavi as instructed.

It still doesn\'t work. It will burn the dadt onto the disk but then no player will read it. For one, there isn\'t an option to decrease the write rate and the lowest it will go is 8. Some of my files come up as nerovision files will this be corredt?? I know that the problem isn\'t with my file becasue I have managed to get it to burn using other programs.

Is it just a case that it maybe won\'t work when it is required to burn PAL as opposed to NTSC??

Another thing I noticed is that there are only 6 or 7 files when encoding usng winavi - but with other programs there are almost double that

Thanks

Hi

I\'ve just managed to get Nero to burn the dvd that winavi created. But the lip sync comes and goes all of the time. Someties it is fine other times it is not. Is this because it is the trial version? Or is this another bug??

Cheers

I don\'t quite know what you mean afonic. The file has come straight from my camcorder (I\'m in UK) and then encoded through winavi to PAL parameters. I don\'t think there would be an NTSC toPAL transfer in that case

Nevermind. Does the DV AVI file play OK in your computer?

Make sure you set the parameters for PAL, which is 25fps.

the avi file plays perfectly on my pc. And I am setting the correct parameters for PAL.

I have tried burning a different file now and the lpi sync isn\'t as bad - but it is still out.

Is there any other thing I can try - or will this be fixed if I buy the proper version??

I would be happy to buy this software because of its speed and ease, but not if these problems are still goping to be apparent.

Thanks again

Well I don\'t know what\'s wrong, maybe it\'s the DV codec you are using, maybe it\'s WinAVI. I don\'t know if the next version will work, maybe you should try something else, like TMPGEnc.

thanks for all of your help. I have used TMPG - but it had its downsides as well. I like the winavi program that is why I am persevering with it. And I have now learnt quite a lot about encoding in a short space of time. Smiley

Thanks again for the knowledge!

hi jemdalade,

I nothiced you mention the dvd files generated by tmpgenc is sync out and at the end the sync is 10 seconds, isn\'t it?

Well, WinAVI do the same thing. maybe the source DV AVI have some special-features. So, can you send 1 your DV AVI file to me? Then we\'ll analyze it and try to fix it.

Send a DV AVI file that occur problem with WinAVI (no more than 100MB) to mediafile@zjsoft.9966.org

If you have other problems, just contact me  :-)
Thanks,

Hi there

I have since managed to encode two files, that work well with the lip sync matching. But still some files will not work. Unfortunately I do not have a file of less than 100MB to send, and also (I am a bit new to this) what is a DV AVI file?? I knwo avi - but what does the dv stand for??

Thanks.

It\'s an AVI files that uses the DV codec, in short, it\'s the type of AVI you are capturing from your camcorder. Try to capture a short time from the tape that has the problem, so that it\'s around 100MB (try to get the size) and send it to willow.

Yes, a short time is enough. And if possible, send a final dvd vob file(no more than 100MB) have problems generated by WinAVI to me too, that will be more good.

hi there

sorry I haven\'t replied sooner but I have een away.

I have managed to sort out my camcorder feed (wahay!!!) I just mucked about with some of the properties and that has seemed to fix the problem.

I have now tried encoding other things because I had this success, but unfortunately pretty much all of the avis I have encoded don\'t work, or the lip sync is really badly out. I even tried virtualdubmod, in some of these avi files, the audio seems to be shorter than the video when this is done. Could this be the problem??

I\'m at a loose end now......

ps tried some of the same files with Tmpeg thingy some worked, others didn\'t :S

Cheers
